What Hammer Balls to Stock?
« on: January 10, 2004, 04:29:23 AM »
In your honest opinion out there folks,

What Hammer balls are the best suiterd for the majority of house bowlers and house conditions? I want to get Hammer back in the Hands of some local guys but I need to know which ones have proven to be the best for the typical house condition so I can get them on display.

I have had success with the SLing Blade....any others?

The Power Diesel looks promising as does the Sharp Blade...

Our typical house shot is 8 to 8 with about 60 units. Volume drops off to about 40 units at 37 feet, buff out to 41. No taper left to right. Wall is at 8. Outside 8 there are maybe 5 units.

any opinions here???

As I have stated everywhere the bowlers in my area are cheap...that's why I didn't even mention the Vicious series.

The Diesels and the Blades are in the right price point.

I am trying to get my hands on a Big Blue to play with for myself but have been unable to locate a used one anybody got one they wanna sell ????

Hey Doug, we have a bunch of cheap customers too (lol) and the ones that have been the most successful have been the Blade series, particularly the Sling Blade.  That ball will cover a lot of normal league conditions, looks nice, and won't cost a ton.  We've had one of each of the Vicious and Diesel series, and have barely gotten them off the wall, and that's with the boss drilling a couple of them for himself.

I would stock the blades. diesel's are more of a midlane reaction ball. Joe Bowlers doesn't want to see the midlane. they want backend for a cheap cost.

the Blade series is the one to stock.

blade pearls and blade particles for backend. I would also so stock the sub group of sling and sharp blades for those than want a more even rolling balls.

The blade series maybe the best midline ball series. strong contenders might also be the monsters and Silver streak. by me the blades are a good 10-20 cheaper and that makes them look eve better. blades are about 150.00 out the door.

Doug,

Definite must have's are the Big Blue and the Power Diesel.

In the shop I work in, We've had good luck with the Blades due to
price and interestingly enough the Diesel Reactive Pearl.  A few guys
are throwing them with a lot of success.  A very underrated ball IMHO.

If it were me I'd throw a Turbo on the wall as well.  It would be a good
alternative to the Blade reactive, complete with different reaction. (ER vs SF)

Hope this helps,

Bill

Doug,

Hammer balls to stock...

Big Blue  --  just because most of your bowlers probably had the old one which will help sell it and controlable will help sell even more.

Sharp Blade & Sling Blade  --  good price and very good 1-2 combination.  Sharp Blade is more ball than most people think, especially dulled up a little.  Sling Blade is more usable on a wide variety of conditions than people think.

Blade Reactive  --  great ball for the price.

Turbo Diesel & Power Diesel  --  Best length of all the Hammer line while still remaining a ball that will hook and hit hard with angle on the back end.  Maybe a little too close to each other to carry both balls.

Just my opinion.

Big Blue is everything they say and more!!  It's one of the best I've thrown.  Real smooth...just like the old blue.  Carries well , reads the lane super, looks cool, etc.  Do not hesitate drilling one of these and stocking it.  I can't say enough about this one!

Ebonite has put out a masterpiece, FAB should be proud of this one!!

If you have a lot of medium to light handed strokers the Power Diesel is the ball that they all dream of. This ball gets great length and a back end that will not quit. It shines up very easy also. I have 12-15 revs and have never been so impressed by a ball.

Doug,

I see a lot of higher rev players doing great things with Blade Reactive Pearls.

We have a similar house shot and Hammer is the best sell ball for us.

Blade Reactive is an excellent choice for the shot as well as the mid price range makes it very attractive. (23 sold)

Blade Particle also has sold well for us for the rev impaired (7 sold)

Power Diesel- New ball but very aggresive for the insiders and loopers (5 sold)

Diesel Particle- another good choice for the shot (6 sold)

Blade Pearl- versatile ball with great backend (5 sold)

Sling Blade- good length with good backend, (4 sold)

Diesel Reactive Pearl- (2 sold)

All in all Hammer is the best seller for us, and all of this has been done in 6 months. Not bad for a 20 lane house in the country an hour and a half from civilization. 85% of our sales are for mid price range equipment, you will no doubt have better sales in the higher dollar line than us.
