whos alter the box suface on the trap?
« on: November 15, 2010, 05:19:24 PM »
so who has altered the box surface on the trap and how do you like it?

ive tried mine at: box finish, 2000 abralon, 2000 abralon with ebonite factory finish polish. and none of these match up well with me. im getting a very over under reaction with this ball. i have it drilled stacked with the pin next to and a little higher than my ring finger.

im a power tweener with 16-17 mph ball speed and medium rev rate. my pap is 5 5/8 by 0.

i love my plague drilled similar. its box finish with a light coat of ebonite factory finish polish to get it thru the heads a little cleaner.
i also drilled a swagga and midnight vibe with no issues with over under.

I'm some what a power tweener/cranker w/ similiar ball speed and I would suggest trying to slap 1000 grit abralon on it.  Hopefully and I would think that would be the ticket. Good Luck and good bowling!

I have mine at 500/2000 abralon and then lightly polished with factory finish. A lot better than OOB and reads the lane a little earlier

I've seen good results with people using 1000 abralon. Really got it dialed in with a great reaction with that. Mine is still OOB surface and love it.

I love mine with 1000 and a light polish, I would suggest doing that to it

I too, have hit my Trap with a fresh 1000 pad and put the FF polish on it.
Now this ball is money for the later leagues - does not squirt anymore when moving in the oil line. This should do the trick that you are looking to get out of this ball.

Well all depends on the pads at the factory... I tried it at the box surface and the ball was too squirty for me, but then I hit it with a fresh 1000 pad (along the track & then against the track) and put FF polish on it, the ball rolls more now in the mids & strong continuation in the backends.

If you sand against the track, it actually helps the ball read a little earlier than going along the track area. This works for me!

1500 Grit Sia Air works great on thios ball ! Put that surface on my brothers ball who is about 17-18 mph heavy roller and above average revs.
