For me, I see more overall hook in the Burgundy than my ALF solid (midlane & backend finish). I kept both balls at box surface and see that both balls compliment each other very well. The ALF solid is about 5-7 boards weaker, but smoother in the backends.

The difference in the ALF solid & the original ALF, is that the solid really blends the lanes more than the original which was a pearl version. The coverstock on the new ALF solid really gets through the fronts & tames down the end of the pattern better than the original which I loved! This ball replaced one of my original ALF, and I put my original ALF with 500 w/ FF polish so I use it when the lanes get ugly in later shifts/tournaments...

Hope this helps & let me know if you have any other questions about the Hammer line!

Thanks for your reply.

My burgundy may be the best ball I've ever had. The ball is incredibly smooth, completely blending house shots. However, at the 500 grit surface, the ball can begin to burn up towards the end of the shift and leave corners. I'm looking for something that can keep that same overall smoothness but with that few extra feet of length to keep it from burning up too soon.

Would a second burgundy with less surface be the right move, or would something like the ALFS be better?

I am thinking of doing the same thing... Drilling a 2nd Burgundy and taking the surface up to 3000 or putting clean & sheen on top of the 500 grit surface.

The ALFS would compliment the ball too with a similar layout, but I too LOVE the Burgundy look going down the lane.

I also have burgundy hammer stacked with the pin next to the fingers. I like that ball a lot. I want another one that will get down the lane better. Any ideas on how which course to take? Thanks

Which layout (burgundy) would you recommend for shorter pattern lane condition?

I'm tweener with medium speed.
