Looking for two new bowling balls
« on: October 28, 2012, 04:38:51 PM »
I’m looking for 2 new hammer balls for league. I’m a medium speed tweener that bowls on guardian lanes that are medium oil. What are your suggestions for a good one two punch? Thanks

The Purple Taboo and Grape Vibe would be my two choices.  Taboo when they are fresh and then the Vibe once the lanes transition and you need something thats cleaner through the front and still give you some entry angle on the back.

Definitely agree on a Purple Taboo for the fresh.  For the medium-medium dry, you could also potentially consider the Nail Smoke & Fire that recently came out.

Here is a video from Hammer where they compare the Nail and the Grape Vibe:

Guardian is known for burning up in the kids early and quick transitions.  I'd reccomend two shiny symmetrics with simple layouts. One low reg and one higher rg if you have to play the drier part of the track.  Maybe an Arson Pearl and Nail.  This way when they transition, your adjustments will be more simple, 3-1, 4-2 moves and you will still retain the reaction shape over 3 games.

Taboo Purple is a great choice for just about anywhere. And then I have the Nail smoke/fire for when they dry up. Makes for a pretty mean league combo!

My suggestion would be a Jet Black Taboo and Grape Vibe with similar layouts. Find the layout that works well for you and then go with it.

I have both drilled very similarly....50x2-1/2x30 (give or take 5*). The Jet Black is OOB and the Grape is dulled to 4000.

When the lanes are fresh I can play the Jet Black near the track or just inside of it. When the Jet starts reacting too hard I switch to the Grape and play the same line. The dulled finish and symmetrical core give the ball a longer, smoother overall reaction.
