DOOM initial impressions
« on: January 10, 2008, 08:25:55 AM »
Ball Specs:
15lbs
3 3/8" Pin to Pap
3 3/8" CG to Pap
Xhole on PAP, pitched 1/2" away from center of grip
5/8oz positive side weight

Me:
350rpms
17-18 mph by the quibica
minimal axis tilt, various axis rotation
My "A" game is on the side of the ball controlling the ball motion, I can hook the ball if needed.

I drilled my DOOM basically the same as my Anger. I was looking for something to compliment my Anger when the lanes started to dry up. I've yet to use it in that capacity.

I used in the previous two nights in league, two centers, house shots.

Center 1:
New lanes, remodeled over the summer, pretty wet/dry and hooks quite a bit.

I started out playing a small swing from 10-7 and struggled to find some consistent carry. The DOOM was reading the midlane pretty early was reacting hard on the back. It is possible that it was reading alittle too early and giving me a slight hook stop motion.

I moved left and flipped the ball at the bottom, which was alittle better for awhile, but my carry continued to suffer. I hit the pocket a ton, but only managed a 643.

Center 2:
10 year old Brunswick Anvil, softer wall, med-heavy oil

I started with "A" game release, on the side of the ball. I was playing up 8 and had a really good look. I tossed a couple of junkers towards the end of the game. The next game I really had a awesome look, left a couple of single pins. The third game my look started to fade. I moved left into the oil puddle after back to back 4 pins. The DOOM wouldn't recover. I decide to pitch it right into the dry and then I was back to the 4 pin leave. I put the DOOM away for our fourth game. I did manage a 707 with a 203 in game 3.

Overall, the ball motion is very similar to my Anger, but more angular on the back part of the lane. I'm looking forward to using the ball on a few tournament conditions to see how well it will compliment my Anger.

Andrew the Doom is a fantastic ball that works well on a ton of patterns.  I sent you a PM.
