First off let me say this ball looks awesome!!!!! Richie and the guys did a great job coming up wit hthe color combo for their first swirled ball...AWESOME !!!!

Ball specs...pin 3-1/4"
Top weight: 3.2
Gross wt: 15-3

Drill pattern...4-1/2 x 2-1/4, weighthole 1" above midline 1-1/16 x 2-1/2"

All I have to say is this ball is awesome!!!!!! I know I have used that word before but this thing rocks.

The pattern was a broken down lane condition where the oil had pushed, carried down and the humidity level was HIGH.

The deeper I moved, the harder the ball finished. It was insane!!!! I had no problem taking hand out of the ball and playing it up 10. So I moved in 5 and 5 kept the same breakpoint...strike. I moved some more and finally I got it come light but this ball is WAY stronger than my Blueberry.

I moved over to some fresher oil (oiled today) with the house shot....forget it!!!! I threw 3 shots. Ball 1 stood 25, threw 15 to whereever it stopped...turned left at about 40 feet and went from 5 board to the 7 pin. Shot 2 I stood 35 and threw between 3-4 arrows out to like 10....clipped the 2-3 on the way by. Shot 3...stood 40, played 5th arrow to 10...WOW!!!! finally found the pocket!!!! But left a stone 9 pin.....

Moved onto another pair that had our house shot...pretty flat oil 3 to 3 down the lane 38 feete and buffed to 42 if I recall. They had some open play on them but I got a similar result. The ball read the midlane super strong and finished like a train. This may be the shot for the ball. I was able to play deepr than either my Blueberry or Inferno and the hit and carry was unreal. It read the midlane a hair better than my Blueberry with a backend stronger than my Inferno....absolutely incredible.

This ball rocks. I am considering leaving it in box finish and selling my Super Carbide Bomb...I think this ball will be more versatile and playable on most lanes.

Lane 1, gotta give you a solid 9-1/2 out of 10 on this one.

Hey,Ballreviewyittes,I’m back,I dunno why,but I’m back. This time to tell you all about the newest Lane #1 ball,The Black Cherry Bomb! I bought it NIB,it’s 14lbs 4ozs w/Top weight of 2lbs,7 ozs.I think the pin was a 1-2”.My ball was done “Stacked Leverage”,with the finger holes and thumb going 12:00 straight down and the pin is 1” inch away from CG.Also there is a drilled hole 4” inches on the right side of the ring finger.I noticed this ball is less shiny than its cousin Cherry. Now it’s test time, this pair I bowled on was Medium Oil.This ball Is a trip!! I threw it on the 7 board and its slid and rolled, its hard to explain, but I was liking this.I tried another area, this time, the middle main BIG ARROW,then I swung out the BCBomb to the 12  board aiming in the gutter department. This ball comes back!I did this several times getting many good strikes and a couple of deflective strikes!I forgot ta mention,I’m using a 14 as opposed to a 15/16,which give more revs and junk like that.On a ok note if you miss your mark, you will get solid  â€œ6’s ,7’s even  8’ pins. This ball is very versatile,I only picked up two “10” pins tonite, but I just got it drilled very recently.Other than that it makes a pretty neat emergency spare ball.I pulled a RARE tonight, for tha first time in a year and a half,I only used “”1”” ball, this Black Cherry Bomb!Ok,later I bowled in a NEW TEST condition for new balls,I decided to bowl this on Cosmic Bowl Night!!!! Ok,this time the lanes are getting a bit drier, they still have oil on them, but its scattered throughout this pair I’m on. Man!!This ball is very cool,I  walked straight  from the 3rd board on left side and swung it out to the 12 to 15 boards on the right group of arrows,it rolls/slides then CAAARRRRRAAASSH!!! Comes in the backends like a runaway truck!! When the lane got more drier I moved on the left side a scosh more with simaliar Swinging out in 2nd arrowland! Dang if I didn’t get strikes there too!!Hahahahhaha,so far this ball is a keeper. On me I noticed wherever I throw whether it be the 4 board kinda fast or a monster swing hook at the far left almost walking into the gutter line in leftsideland! This ball hooks so differently on several lane conditions. The only conditions I haven’t tried on is Sport Shot and Heavy Oil.I’m sure other future reviewers will type that in.I bowled 21 games on two totally different conditions tonight and feel this is a very neato ball.I’m looking forward to using VERY often. The only problem I had with this ball is on light or dry,I was CLOSE but I couldn’t get 10 pins .I forgot,I only brought one ball!Ummm, but I bowled a lot of strikes and had my highest game in the DARK(kinda),a  299!Ugg!A solid "6 pin"! Yayayayaya it don’t count,BUT on COSMIC Bowling, hey, that’s a fun thing to accomplish!I have proof on a printout so my oddball friends dont think I'm lying,LOL!. Especially with all that LOUD MUSIC,COURTSEY LANE BREAKING,DANCING PEOPLES and I still keep my cool with the BC Bomb. That’s my fun(aka hokey, but a little informative review).Hey!I try to tell what I exactly experienced, give or take a sentence!!.I give this ball an ””A”” solid!Even if I type my explanations a bit odd,TAKE MY WORD FOR IT,it’s a cool ball!BTW this ball actually took me 7 games to break it in!Lastly plz dont cyber tease my review on another post, thanks.

I’m going ta Snoozeville,be COOL everyone,I gotta get up later today and go used bowling ball hunting at the local flea market!

WOW , all i can say is, this ball is awesome. It can play a wide variety of oil patterns. Got it with in box cover. Depending on oil conditions and wrist and hand adjustments you can use this ball on most all conditions except dry. You could even use it on dry if you can throw alot of speed. Now to talk of carry. WOW again. Very few 10's( actually left more 8's and 9's). This ball hits VERY HARD from alot of different angles.I think lane 1 gets a "10" on this one.

man this ball hooks!i'm a heavy handed righty bowling in a house with 38 "of oil thick in the middle and of course outside of 8 is dry.i started playing 20 on a fresh shot but was going left way toooo much .so i put a gloss on it and now its much more controllable and hits like my original cherry did.awesome ball and im sure ill sell tons in my shop!more about me my pap is over 5 and 5/8 and up 1 inch .i layed the ball out with a 5x5 layout to make sure ball wouldn't be too strong but its still screamin. for people with less hand this ball should rule for anyone needing help to hook.only question will be will the coverstock last or will it die in a couple of months i will check in a few to give updates!

wholly crush the pocket!!!!i got this ball last wednesday, also the first night of my new league.i'm a righty that bowls with no thumb(ring finger and pinky) and i shot 224,300,245 with 20 in a row!i never moved all night.this ball NIB is wonderful but we will see as time rolls on.its drilled to flat out hook and i have good ball speed to back it up.i havent used a ball that made pins fly like that in a long time.even though i us no thumb, it felt good off my hand.i recommend this ball for anyone.

Me - Right Handed Tweener, medium ball speed.

Ball (before drilling) - 15 lb. 3 oz., 3.7 oz. top wt., 3" pin

Layout - Pin 4 1/2" from PAP (over ring finger), stacked.  5/8" extra hole, 2 1/2" deep, 6" from grip center.

The Black Cherry clears the heads very well, revs in the mid lane and makes an extremely strong move on the back end.  In fact, with this layout, the back end move is too angular on a house shot.  It often results in back row or 4 pin leaves.  I tried wet sanding with 1200 to take the shine off of the ball and it did seem to tame it down briefly.  However, once the lane oil shined it back up, the results were as before.  I suspect this ball will play much better for me on a condition with carrydown or where a deep line is required.  I will also probably try sanding with a lower grit (maybe 800).

I would suggest that most should have this ball laid out with the desired PAP to Pin distance and keep the CG near the palm.  This ball will be plenty strong without a lot of help from exotic layouts.

WOW! I've had this ball a litle over a week and that is the best way to describe it. Had it drilled with the lane 1 length drilling. This ball skids a good 35 feet, if not more. When it starts to rev there is no stopping it. I have never had a ball i could play this deeply with.  Make no mistake, it is very agressive, but you sawheads know what i mean when i say it's a smooth agressive. Rolls more like a pearl for me than a solid. This might just be the ball that gets other guys in my house rolling lane 1. Right now i'm the only one out there. Shop here charges too much so I go elsewhere to buy. Great ball by the guys and i'm looking forward to buying the xxl next.

Don't ask me why I bought this ball...

I guess I figured that since it was a solid, that it would be less prone to over/under like the Cherry BOMB pearl was.

I was wrong again.  I drilled this one 4x4 stacked and it did hook a little more than the Cherry BOMB pearl, but still nothing to get excited about.  The hit was decent, but nothing spectacular.

Why was this ball called a hook monster by all of the same folks that you see review these new Lane#1 balls regularly(they know who they are)?  Unless Lane#1 does something about their crappy BOMB cores, I will never buy another ball from them again.  I am not the only one either...many of the people I bowl with that use Lane#1 feel exactly the same as I do.

Good luck in the future Lane#1...

I got this ball from Doug Sterner NIB.  It had a 2-3" pin and I believe a 2.75 oz top. I had it drilled Label 1:30 with a small weight hole just below my PAP

I got it a few weeks ago and needed time to make a good review.  On the right conditions(Medium/Heavy), I typically stand 25 drift to about 27 and roll around 20.  I get it over the 3rd and eventually about to about 7, where it reads the back end and makes a very hard turn left.  It's almost a snap, but not quite.  Aside from the very rare pocket 7-10(seems to happen when I don't release it clean), I rarely leave 10 pins... maybe 1 in a 3 game set.  If I can adjust and get the ball to the pocket, this ball is devastating.  HOWEVER, if I tug it inside just a little too much, this ball is so strong, I better pray it doesn't ignore the oil and go driving into the head pin.

Overall this ball fits my game to a tee.  I have short video clips of what my ball looks like lane wise when I roll it right.  PM me and I will e-mail you the clips.

This ball is a 9.5 out of 10 in my book.  Compliments my Cherry Bomb very well.  The only ball to get a 10 so far is my Emerald Pearl.

Bought this ball from Drillwizard.  Ball is 15.2 lbs, 3oz topweight, and a 2-3 " pin.  Discussed at length with Drillwizard, along with reading several posting about this ball and finally drilled it to a 4.5 to 3 3/8 pattern.  Pin is above my ring finger, 7" weight hole by my pap, ball wound up having 7/8 side and  7/8 finger, after drilling the weight hole.  Figured that I would try it like that before we went any bigger with the hole.  Ball has a very nice move to the pocket, does not or is not jumpy like many resin balls that I have tried.  Threw 225, 227 out of the box with it.  Next night, different house, ball skided, but still wound up shooting a small 600 with it, next night (back at the original house) threw 223, 267, 264 with it.  Ball for me is a keeper.  Rate it a 9.  Not the strongest ball out there, and definately not the weekest.

Box specs:

  15lbs, 15oz
  3-4" pin
  2.7 oz Top
Drilled stacked leverage with small weight hole
Took surface down to knock the shine off
Condition: fresh oil before leagues.  I'm not sure of the pattern, but it seemed like a typical block pattern with clean backends.

Anyhow, I only got to throw about four games with this ball so far, and this is not the condition that I intend to use it on most often, as my pearl cherry bomb already does just fine on fresh with clean backends, but I like what I see thus far. This ball clears the heads very easily, revs up strong in the midlane and makes a strong and remarkably continuous move through the deck. I tried several different lines and hand positions with this bad dog, and it was very receptive to each and every one. I was able to crank the ball up and swing the lane, and I was able to play the ball with less hand straight up second arrow and the ball walked in and absolutely smashed in both cases. From what I can tell, this ball will be perfect for squaring up when the pearl cherry encounters too much oil down the lane. The only downfall that I can see is that this ball can have the tendency to hit too hard. If you miss inside with this one, forget about it. The hit is so continuous and strong that it will just blast straight through with little deflection. However, on the flip side, light hits and swishers just throw pins out of the way. It's too early to assign a rating for this ball, but I have little doubt that I'm going to love this one every bit as much as its pearl brother, if not more. Another great product from Lane 1.

Drilled with Pin beside ring finger cg kicked out 2” and hole near my pap. Initially this had a over/under reaction for me. I sanded off the factory polish and shined it back slightly to a matte finish. The reaction is much improved. I like to use this ball to play slow and deep (not my typical style). The hit is good not great. I like the older original bomb better.

11/16/03-Revised Review. I got to play this ball on shot where the center did not strip the backends and had fresh fronts. Skid City for my other equipment. I tried this ball with a Matte finish, and it hooked up and carried very good.

I have used this ball for several months so I thought it was time to post a review.

Ball Specs....
Pin: 2-3"
Top Weight: 3oz
Gross weight: 14-3

Drill Pattern. 1:30 Label

I use this ball on wood lanes with a 43 foot Christmas tree pattern. I like to stand at 25 and throw between the 2nd and 3rd arrow. My break point is around the 7th board. My ball speed is 18 - 18.5 mph with about 250 revs. When I first got this ball I tried using it with the box finish on it. However, I had a lot of over/under reaction with it. I took a grey scotch bright pad to it and took the shine off it. After that it was very controllable. The best way to describe the reaction of the ball is...it clears the heads very well (as long as you have oil), revs up in the midlane, and makes a strong arcing move to the pocket. The cover stock has been very durable and shows very little signs of wear. I would recommend this ball to anyone. Thanks.

i've had this ball for about a month now and i think i can finally do a review on it.

Ball specs:
15#
2.5" pin
drilled stacked lev (4x4) with a weight hole on my pap.
coverstock - polished so it looks like a pearl ball.

This ball is insane.  When they say medium-heavy oil...that's what they mean.  My basic game is stand 25, over 15, out to 8 and back in.  I can usually play this shot on most conditions with my silver diamond but with the BCB i had to play deep left and swing it right in order to get it to the pocket with the box finish.  I had to polish it once to tame it down, still to strong for my game.  I had to polish it again, and now it doesn't do a damn thing...don't polish this ball!

This ball is T-O-U-C-H-Y!  If you miss your mark on any shot, ur gonna miss the pocket.  Luckily if u miss right then it'll still carry cuz it's a bomb.  If you hit ur target to the left, say goodbye to the ball and pray it goes brooklyn.  This ball is insane and saves all its energy till the very end on the back ends.  Like the demo on the website, u have to swing it right in order to get it back to the pocket with the box finish.

I'll post more when i use the ball more often.  I've only bowled maybe 30 games with this ball and it's hard to make a review so early.  Be expecting an up-date in a lil bit!

This is my first review.

Ball Specs.
15#
2-3 oz topweight
2-3 inch pin.
Ball drilled label.  My axis is about 4 over and right on the midline just to give a clear picture.  No weight hole yet.

I've put about 100 games on this ball by now so I think I can put a decent review up for it.

Positives:
This ball is real clean down the lane, revs up nice on mid and makes a strong move inside.  I would say the hit is slightly above average for what I've thrown.  I've carried more brooklyns and light mixers with this ball than any other.  However, I still do leave MY bucket (2,4,5) when I play it too deep.
On a down and in shot I would say that this is a great ball if you can keep your breakpoint a little farther down the lane than normal.  Like I said, this ball is a very strong moving ball and makes a move earlier than other stuff I've thrown.  This can be a problem with a down and in shot if you hit dry a little early.  But I would say if you are willing to make an adjustment and move a board or two you should be out of trouble.  Don't be stubborn with her, she will punish you.

I do like how the ball is responsive to subtle changes in hand position upon release.  I'll detail later how this is a negative, but the ball will indeed roll differently according to how it is released, which is kind of expected, but not always achieved.

Negatives:
This ball rolls out.  I know it is not solely how I throw it because I have other equipment that does not roll out.  Maybe I'm playing on too dry of a surface for this ball to be continuous, but for me, it does not roll forever.  Now sometimes I need it to roll out to give me a little room when I miss my mark early.  But it gets irratating when I'm trying to play a more inside line and I have to get my hand practically on the side of the ball to make sure it keeps going.  That is by far my biggest complaint.

Second, the ball picks up a lot of crap.  I guess this is because it is a PK cover, and they tend to pick up a lot of junk.  But this ball gets filthy, and I truly believe that the kind of filth it picks up significantly affects the roll.

Third, it is sensitive.  Now I don't mind that too much, but my last ball was a freak out and that ball was not nearly as sensitive to slight miscues in throwing.  If you don't execute with this ball, I give it a better than average chance of going deep or through the schnoz.

With that in mind, I hope this helps those looking to buy this ball.  I do recommend this ball to people I talk to, but am looking for something a little more mild that might not burn up as much.  I'm also looking to throw this on either a sport shot or somewhere that lays down a little more oil outside 10.  Perhaps this is not a good match-up for a regular house condition.

Please PM me with suggestions about improving reviews so I write up a few more.

UP-DATED REVIEW!

Ball specs:
15#
2.5" pin
drilled stacked lev (4x4) with a weight hole on my pap.

all i gotta say it, don't screw with the cover stock.  Polished mine twice, sanded it back down to box finish, ball doesn't do a thing.  It'll move when i slow my speed down, but for higher speed bowlers like me, i don't like it.  I'm not a big Lane1 fan anymore, i'm switching back to storm.

for anyone that has a medium ball speed, lane 1 rocks, but for higher speed/rev players, i wouldn't recommend lane 1.  the reaction is way to late for our kind of game.  in my personal view at least.

Drilled this one up with a stacked leverage drill.  I polished it, and it only works on down and in dry lane shots.  I am a high end tweener and this ball just gives me problems.  This is the first out of four lane #1 balls that I dislike.  I have a Super Carbide Bomb as well, so it is not the core.

BCB is by far one of my favorite balls for oily lanes. I don't know what kind of shot you guys are playin' on but this ball loves the oil, especially since i sanded it. I am a cranker and this ball is the total NUT. If you sand the ball make sure you have plenty of oil to throw it on, otherwise you'll be dialing the back row. My BCB is drilled 4 1/2 max leverage pin under ring finger c.g. out. This ball for heavy oil i rate at 10 all day. some of you might want to check your drillings and play the lanes accordingly, instead of playing what is not there.....>>>>>>>>THERE IS ONLY LANE #1.

I have had this ball about a month, and all I can say is holy s***!.  This is the best ball I have thrown.  I have it drilled stacked, roll long and snap, and this ball has increased my average a lot since I got it.  It hits like a truck and rarely leaves 10 pins of any kind, and when it does, your jaw will drop because it is just unbelievable how hard this ball hits.  It carries excellent too, whether it's light, solid, or even brooklyn, they all carry the same.  I shot 300 with this ball my first week, my first 300 ever, and ended up with a 713 that set.  I went out today and shot 739, the only pins missed were two 9 pins, left only because this is so much ball, and two 4 pins, because the ball rolls so hard into the pocket.  If anyone is looking for a ball, and does not want to make it Columbia 300, which I also love, save up an extra $30 and get this!  10/10

**Sorry this delayed a few months**

Above avg speed, med-hi revs, RH
Lane Conditions: Medium-Heavy Oil
Played 12-8
Weight of bowling ball: 16
Surface of bowling ball: Polished

Likes: Length, backend. Good carry but leaves the 9 ALOT.

Dislikes: Moves too early if you miss inside. Not forgiving. It is overly sensitive if you miss inside or lose any ball speed. KEEP IT CLEAN ALWAYS.

Obviously I am less impressed than some other users. It's still a great ball if you are consistent and on the right conditions.

7.5-8 out of 10

I tried using this ball in 2 different sport shot tourneys, heavy oil on the front and both times the ball would burn up before it hit the break point.  I ended up getting more backend hook out of my XXL.  I also found that my Storm X Factor made a much stronger move on the backend.

This ball has probably been the most disappointing Lane 1 product I have purchased.

15lb 3-4 in pin 3.25 top wght drilled for instant roll. extremely hard hitting ball.  when it hits the pocket nothing and i mean nothing is left standing.  If u miss left tho reload probably a full rack will still be there to spare on tho not forgiving if u miss left.  very good ball for right person

15lb
pin 3-4
600 grit polished
The first time I got this ball I couldnt get it too work for on my house shot which was a medium-dry kind of condition. I took the time to use a 1200 grit abralon pad on this ball but it lost it's backend causing it to burn out too quickly. So I decided to put a 600 grit polish on it to help the ball go longer and store more energy. It sure was a great move because the new surface has let me use this ball on a variety of lane conditions.

15#

This was my first Lane#1 ball.  I was hoping it was going to be a good one, and it is even better then I expected.

My proshop guy dulled the ball up a bit to try to match my style a little more.  The ball moves very well in fresh oil, medium oil, and even a dryer shot.

The one big thing I noticed with this ball vs my Raging inferno, was the noise it made when hitting a strike.  I swear it almost sounds like a brick wall being knocked down.  This ball hits very hard.  Even on my light hits pins went flying.

I would recommend this ball to anyone, it is well worth the money.

16 lb., 3oz. top, 3" pin
I have wasted incredible amounts of time and money trying numerous other brands (Brunswick, Roto-grip and Track)and working way too hard to carry my current 205 average.  I have had this ball two weeks and I am still in shock since my lowest game has been a 194 (first game out of the box in league with no practice).  Following that game, I have had a 278, two 269s, several 250s and 240s.  Strings of strikes are very common.  I can smell a 300 from here.  It is just plain scary how versatile this ball is for me.  I can play any line with power, and I have found that I do not need to switch balls anymore as the lanes dry up and/or the carrydown gets squirrelly.  When its really dry, I simply crack my wrist to take revs. off the ball and it still strikes with authority.  When I tried this with other high power balls in my past, I could get the ball to the pocket but the hit was flat or "cream puff" commonly leaving an 8 or worse an 8-10.  Those days are over!  Incredibly, I can even convert 10 pin spares with this ball.  I stopped taking my 4-ball roller to the lanes as this is the ONLY ball I need.  I will definitely save my money in the future and BUY Lane #1 products.

MAYBE THE DRILL PATTERN?

SPECS: Fingers next to the pin with the MB (I know it is not marked) out about 2 inches PAP was about 4 1/2 to 5 inches if memory serves correctly

LUCKY STRIKE LANES: What a house, very old wood lanes in decent shape. Oil heavy in the middle and a little less outside down about 40 feet stripped every other week, I liked to use this after the owner stripped them for us, played about 12 at the arrows and 1-4 at the break point, Well the ball got down through the oil well never revved early and when it hit the break it always turned over quick and easy no hesitation. Hit and carry were tremendous everything went straight back, i don't think the it hit as hard as my MoRich stuff but it was just about as effective, very forgiving with the amount of oil on the lane overall on this shot I was relatively impressed!

SABRE LANES: Oil who knows well it was medium through the middle and pretty dry outside old wood lanes in crappy shape, I was using this ball in a Scratch Summer League at this house at first I was impressed then later not so much. The first week I played deeper than most about 17 out to 12 or so ball went down about 40-43 feet and swung back in a crushed the pocket. I noticed some things that bothered me though ball was not nearly as forgiving, as at Lucky Strike and it tended to struggle to get back into the pocket if I screwed up.
As the weeks went the house started putting a little more juice on the lane and the ball just didn't have anything it revved up but didn't move no matter where I throw it how slow or how hard I throw the ball.

SUPER BOWL: Summer shot is dry outside oil in pretty much your standard league shot, On the fresh shot it was awesome had a decent amount of room to use, and the ball was just hurting the pins, I noticed that when the lane began to go into transition the ball lost alot of reaction and I couldn't get it back no matter how much I moved and adjusted hmm curious.

OVERALL: I was not really impressed by this ball but it is not the worst ball I have ever throwen. If the lane condition was just right the ball was a dream if not put it away you won't be able to touch it. The Hit and carry in all houses was great not explosive but very effective kept pins low and moved them around very well, great for light mixers When the ball hooked it hooked great a drove through the pins like they were paper. I got rid of this thing awhile a go could have used it in Shawano for my Masters league
(Hi Brenda ) it would have worked like a dream however I found some other dtuff that worked better on more conditions and I got rid of it.

dizzle247 I have to disagree with you!!!! I am a high speed 17-20 mph with bout 350-400 revs and my LANE 1 balls are excellent.  I've been throwing Saws for 6 yrs now and have had only two balls that didn't fit my style and those were the G-Force Solid and the Enriched Uranium!!!! I am getting the BCB from BeansProShop sometime in the next few weeks, I will post my review on this Gem..Can't wait.

Thanks Lane 1 for Awesome Equipment and Thanks Beans for my new BCB

COMMENTS

Likes:love the easy length and smooth arc  once this ball makes it transistion to the spot it makes a big move off the spot and is very continous through the pin deck. versatile i can go15 to ten straight up 12 or swing it farther if the conditions call for it. great hitting power

Dislikes: non at all or that they have quit making them
