Buzzsaw/C Carbide
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
The ball has the sharpest teeth ever surrounding a Buzzsaw bowling ball with its new "Carbide Particle Formula" coverstock. With the perfect combination of Lane #1's patented diamond core and new "CPF" cover, the ball cuts through more oil, out hooking and striking all competitors. The ball hits harder while scoring more
consistently, giving you the confidence needed for you to win! For bowlers not in need of a 16-lb. ball, Lane #1's 14 and 15 lighter weight "Carbide" Saws come fully packed with 16-lb. ball core, power boosting these lightweights for optimum performance. This feature is available first and only from Lane #1.

Specs are:

Composition of Shell: Carbide Particle Formula (CPF)

Color: Navy Blue

Available weights: 14-16 lbs.

Hardness Range on D-Scale Durometer: 75-78

Lettering: Neon Yellow.

I purchased this ball in used conition, from one of the ball reviewers on this site. This ball has about 10 games of actual use and the price was affordable.
Ball Specs:
15-pounds with a 3 1/2 inch pin.

I just had this ball drilled prior to my Wednesday nite league, I was trying to get a feel for this ball and work using different type of releases. During the first game I was having problems with the thumb hole and I bowled a sub-par 141 game, Once i relaxed my hand and arm swing, I proceed to bowl 235 and 234. This ball is simply awesome, The carry of the three buzzsaws' I currently own all these buzzsaws'hit very hard, well i drilled the ball a little strong so the ball can read the mid-lane (On a blocked condition)I will give a my up to date review once I use this ball alittle more.

Good bowling

This is a follow-up review:

I've used this ball for a few weeks now, and the one thing that stands is that Lane #1 bowling balls are some of the hardest hitting balls on the market.
These are the type of balls that can be used by all types of bowling styles. I've basically in the past used bowling balls from Storm, Columbia, Brunswick. And i've used the following companies equipment with good results, but the one key element i was looking for in bowling equipment, is carry!
If you look past the price on Lane#1 bowling balls, these balls are the answer to the carry issue.
Now to the review:
I purchased this ball to be used on Heavy to tight oiling patterns. Sorry i don't know the specs on this ball (because i'm a beginner in the area of ball layouts, but i'm learning)
This ball was drilled to read the mid-lane quickly, and arc towards the pocket.
The carry is simply awesome (and that's half the battle),this is a consistent performer, and like i stated slowly but surely i'm up dating all my equipment to Lane #1 products. I currently have a Carbine LRG on order and I look forward as to what this ball will do?

Good bowling to everyone:

Fortunately there are still a couple of proshops that sell this ball NIB, and at a good price.  I drilled the Solid Carbide using the label 1 drilling and have used it on just about every condition.  This ball is simply superb on a medium condition.  I am amazed how much energy this ball delivers to the pins (messengers will come from everywhere).  I would not recommend this ball for a flood or for desert dry conditions, but it works great for everything else.  The Solid Carbide is Lane#1 at it's best.
You will not see me on the PBA Tour, but I love the game!!!

Absolutely awesome ball!!!

This is a ball you can use just about everywhere (except dry and floods).

The hit is amazing!

Please do us all a favor Lane#1 and bring some of your oldies (but goodies) back from the dead...

This ball is ridiculous.  If this ball hooks this much I would be scared to throw the super carbide bomb.  Good lord.  I was standing on 30 rolling the ball to 15 at the arrows out to about 10 and this ball wheeled like no other.  Drilled it label just like my uranium and my uranium hooks a load on the back end but is clean through the fronts.  This ball you let it down and it turns its turn signal on for the move.  I will be able to use this ball on heavier oiled lanes and might even be able to use it for floods.  When it gets to the pocket there is nothing left 10 in the pit for sure.

Another review I forgot to write in here so I'll leave it now...sorry for it being quite outdated.

A so-so Saw
Lane Conditions: Medium Oil
Typical Conditions: Variety of Shots
Type of Lane: All Synthetic
What part of the lane did you play? Second Arrow
Did the ball track out? Normal
Weight of bowling ball: 16
Surface of bowling ball: Factory/Box
Likes: Smooth reaction, less over under with the layout drilled on the ball.
Dislikes: Hit/carry, definitely not strong enough for a Buzzsaw!

I picked this used Buzzsaw up for one reason and that was to blend out some over under issues on a wet/dry. Since the C separated mini nugget core was a nice heavy roller I thought that would work.

My Blue Solid is 16 pounds with a 3-4" pin out distance, and it's drilled with the pin next to ring finger and the CG at the 3:00 position.

I used this ball on two different oil patterns bowling on synthetic lanes. The first one was 40ft walled out 10-10 zero buff in the backends, wet/dry horizontally as well as vertically. This Buzzsaw struggled to make it back to the pocket in and out of the oil. Standing slide foot on 25 sending it out to 10 at the breakpoint, I hardly hit the pocket in practice. When league finally started and I did hit the pocket the ball just didn't carry for squat. So I put it away...

I recently used this ball in a tournament where they double oiled the heads to last for 18 games. The result was playing straight up five and arching smoothly and gentyl into the pocket. I had to seriously reduce my speed in order to get the ball home, but it carried better than average once it made it. The reaction wasn't jerky, but even overall down the lane.

I sold this ball because it overlaps a much better hitting and carrying Enforcer. It's not a bad ball but isn't as good as they said it would be.

I found this ball to be alright.  But nowhere close to what it was hyped up to be.  Threw it on a medium-dry shot with booming backends and it was great.  However...every other ball I had in the bag was great.  Took it to a second centre that was dry with weak backends, I know it wasn't the appropraite condition, but I threw it anyways.  It was ok...still hit hard.  Hits really hard, but not the correct reaction.
Brought the ball back home to Canada.  Threw it at my local centre.  It went dead straight.  It did about as much as my buddy's LT48.  Barely bent once the carry down came.  So I sanded it with a burgandy pad (about 600grit).  It was better, but still squirty.  Got it in the oil and it would just slide.  Providing I was in the dry it was alright...and when it was there it ripped the rack.  Just I felt no control with this ball.  Even dulled up, it didn't blend the lanes out as I had hoped...I was looking for something else in the ball.  I gave the ball to my dad, and he finds it to be one of the best balls he has ever thrown.  Guess its just a bit condition specific, but has tremendous carry and hit.
