I received this ball before the regular run so I had no idea what the weightblock was. The guys at Lane 1 just said "drill it your favorite pattern and let us know how you like it."

Ok so I did a 4x4 with pin slightly above and right of my ring finger. The predrill specs were 2-1/2 top and a pin of 2-1/2".

Once drilled the ball had 3/4 side weight and 1/2 finger. My ball did not have the gloss box finish that the new ones have.

I tested the ball side by side with my 4x3 Blueberry that has the pin at 4:00 to the ring. The BB definitely moved earlier. We now know that the cores are different so that helps to explain things.

The Cranberry got long and had a nice snap-arc on the back. It weas not as violent on the back as my Pearl Cherry Bomb but it was definitely more angular than my Blueberry.

I had a tough time using this in league (28 feet oil, 42 foot buff, heavy between 8 and 8, 3 units outside that). The ball just did not have the finish I wanted.

So I punched a weighthole in it on my PAP. The statics now showed 7/16 side and 3/8 finger. I also polished it up so it looks like my display ball.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!!
The ball projects much better, rolls smooth and then has a sharper backend than before. I am still seqarching for the right line to play but I am thinking this will be a great ball for my SPORT pattern.

I'll review again when I get more info....

i now have had a chance to use my cranberry on a couple of conditions--i have also compared the blueberry with the cranberry.here is the scoop......
my ball speed is approx 18-19 mph,375 revs.pap is 5 1/2 x 1/4 up.the ball is drilled 4 x3..(pin under ring finger ,cg out).
my blueberry is drilled exactly the same with a similar pin (2.5")similar top weights etc etc
the first thing i noticed that if i play up the 8 board,the blueberry will roll earlier.the cranberry seems to go longer.the blueberry will make a nice arc to the pocket,where the cranberry will make more of an angular move.the blueberry revs up sooner ,where the cranberry seems to save more energy for the back end.
playing the deeper line with the cranberry,standing 25 pushing it out over the second arrow....came back to the pocket very strong..once it found some dry boards,it came back slamming.
i can't say it would replace my blueberry,but seems like a great ball with a stronger backend .....hope this info is useful...

Cranberry Buzzsaw

Purchased the cranberry to fit between my super carbide and cherry bomb C /2. What a pleasant surprise, it did just exactly that. I set the cranberry up different than any ball I have ever owned, I gambled a little here. I put the pin directly below my ring finger and placed the CG 3/16 to the right of the center of grip and 1/8 below the mid-plane. This was quite a huge shift in how I normally lay my equipment out because I usually track high enough to raise concerns if I would be rolling over the bridge or thumb.

On a fresh house shot moderately heavy oil from 10 to 10, light oil from 10 out on either side I found the cranberry to weak to make the hump, to jumpy going down and in starting on the drier boards and over all kinda wishy washy in how it moved and hit. On the third game however when the lanes stared opening up I found all kinds of area, I could swing 15 to 20 boards inside with absolutely strong angular move, or straight up the boards with more speed and tremendous move, the carry changed from weak to a big Bangor.

The hook set was easy to read and very easy to trust and control. I can see the cranberry being a great second shift type ball,or even one for lanes that break down fast.

On a side note I found that I did not track over the bridge or thumb, but was catching the first flare band very close to the grip. I like this set up pretty well, it seems to retain energy and move up nicely with ample pop left for the task at hand. In a lot of ways the cranberry strongly reminds me of the pro purple but with a little more back end potential.

Have had this ball for about a month, rolled many games with it and don't have a bad thing to say about it. Took about 10 games to find an accurate breakpoint. Normally play on medium-heavy oil with carrydown, on synthetic lanes.

Have it drilled aggressive, but as far as specs, I'm not quite sure to be exact.

A little about me, haven't bowled in a league for a long time, about 7 years, probably 5 years since I pick up any ball, I'll tell you how long, the ball I had before this was a Pirhana C/Pearl Jade, a long time. Back then I was averaging about 205 in my league Jr league. After the layoff I was averaging about 170 in my men's league. Got my timing back and still wasn't improving at all, finally got sick of bowling inconsistent and went to our proshop head, a very nice person and very knowledgable and ask for some help. First thing he did was moved me up about two feet on the approach, eliminate a step, all to slow me down. Second thing was to get a new equipment. He had recommended this ball along with 1 or 2 others, and when a couple other guys had recommended this ball, I ran with it.

My average in the three weeks I have used it on league my average has gone up 10 pins, from 170 to 180, in three weeks, and we are 30 weeks into it. Had 1st monster game second game, three weeks ago, shot 178-290-210=678, highest since Jr league. Since then, last two weeks on league were 210-255-212=677 and 268-199-200=667. Very consistent, which I love.

I bowl alot of practice games, and have also had some very outstanding games with it as well, 255's, 289, just tonight, got into the tenth twice with 9 in a row, solid 7's both times, 1st shot 10th frame, 279 & 267, pesky seven pins.

I give this ball a 10, one for the fact it hits hard, carries the corners, and show no signs of letting down, and second and most important to me, it has repeaked my interest in bowling, a sport that I love and that I'm excited about again. I will be buying to more Lane#1 balls very soon, probably the Black Cherry Bomb for houses with more backend and either the XXXL or XXL for some spares on the left side of the lanes.
