Likes: I wouldn't be hesitant to say that this is the hardest hitting ball I have ever thrown. This ball revs easy, has great length, superb midlane reaction and just completely annihilates the rack.

Dislikes: This ball might be too much for drier shots out of the box but a good polish will help get it through the heads.

First of all I would like to thank Lane #1 for sending us a test ball so I could write this review and do a video for everyone.

As many of you on here know, and most every one around the shop knows, I have been a fan of Lane #1 for a long time. When I was told we were getting a Supernova to test I could hardly wait for the UPS man to get to the shop with it so I could get it in my hands.

The ball we received had a pin of 3" and a top weight of 3oz and the mass bias was directly inline with both of them. I drilled it with the pin above the ring finger with the cg almost directly beneath it and the mass bias out to the right of my thumb. I decided to leave the box finish on it for testing.

As soon as I glued my last grip in I threw on my shoes and headed down to the lanes. They had just finished running the lanes for the league that was set to come in so I got to throw it on a fresh shot. The first shot I threw with it I sent it way wide of my target and I thought I had thrown it in the ditch. I started to turn around when out of the corner of my eye I saw it start to grab and turn the corner! This ball came screaming back and just destroyed the hole. After that shot I knew I had a winner in my hands.

I quickly found out that the Supernova is a very aggressive bowling ball. No matter how deep I got and how far I sent it right, it always made the turn with enough energy to carry. I know that Lane #1 balls are known for how hard they hit but I can honestly say that this is the hardest hitting ball I have ever thrown. When you watch our video notice the way it just blows through the rack on flush hits and when it comes in light how it sends pins bouncing and scattering all over the lane. When we were shooting the video some league bowlers started arriving and they couldn't believe how hard the Supernova was hitting. We sold 3 on preorder just from them watching this ball hit.

My favorite shot to play with the Supernova is to get in deep and send it out to around 7 or 8 and watch it come screaming back. It revs up right of your hand and clears the heads very nicely. In the midlane is where it really starts to pick up and then just comes screaming back on the backend. I was also able to move right and increase my speed to play right around ten.

Overall the Lane #1 G-Force Supernova is easily one of the top 3 balls that I have tested this year. Based on this balls hitting power, overall reaction and versatility it will be in my bag for a very long time. If you are looking for a ball that you can count on to turn the corner and hit like a truck then you should definitely pick up one of these. I can't wait until our shipment comes in so I can drill another one with a different layout.

Ok here goes, got about 3 weeks worth of lane time on this ball so I feel i can give an honest impression of it

First off thanks to Chuck at lane 1 for the test ball, and a second thanks for the drilling layout help

Me 450+ rpms
speed 17.5 at deck
axis tilt in the 45-60 degree depending on condtions
pap over 5 up 0

Ball:
15# 3 oz, 3-4 pin, 3.2 top

drilling:
pin 5.5 to pap (equates to above middle finger
MB 55* (equates to 1" right of thumb, in line with thumb)
cg ended up in palm 3/4" above grip center line
surface = box finish
no x-hole, ending wieghts 0 side, 1/4+ fingers

house #1 wood lanes wood approaches
x mas tree, oiled to 39 buffed to 41 soft backs
ball loved this shot, was the picture of smoothness, got thru the drying heads with ease and never once labored to make the hole, sent it wide (hey I am a hack) and it screams back, tug it inside and it held the line. def a differing hit then saws of past, the super dense inner nugget holds its own. shot 652 at this house, noticed as the night went on, if I continued to soften my hand I could stay in the same place and play all night long

House #2 wood lanes wood approaches
x mas tree shot, 36 feet buffed to 38, even tho shorter oil i can still use this ball, I have to play deeper tho, 4th arrow is home with the shorter stuff. nice glide thru the heads and once again off the dry this ball reads hard and makes a strong continuous movement all the way thru the deck. 636-602 due to my stupidity and missed single pin spares (I did say I was a hack right)

house #3 synthetic approaches, synthetic overlays
appears to be ths ran to 37 buffed to 39 very light oil. once again soften the hand and let it go, makes a nice move off the dry, carries off hits better then most of my other lane 1 stuff. shot little 600 without too much effort

house #4, new brunswick synthetics
house shot 38-39 feet buffed to 42 or so, ball absolutely loves this longer oil, I can throw hard and fast and kill the pocket here, as I watched guys slide thru the break the supernova just went out, turned the blinker on and went left and swept the rack straight back, miss hits gave me big flying messengers, that had most of other team asking about it (the were throwing some lane 1 stuff as well) 670+ in this house

all in all a great peice

CONCLUSION;
First two games were a test 180,186 then I finally adjusted with a 246. I tried to shoot inside and the ball left alot of single pins, for tournament conditions. Then I moved outside and when really nuts. Other bowlers tried to follow my line only to find even more oil and they were leaving alot of corner pins. This ball out hooks my solid uranium by 8-9 boards. It has the same finish as my solid Uranium, but my SU would have left those corner pins. NOT today! These lanes had alot of carrydown. I cannot wait to try it out on clean/sharp backends that synthetics have, Next week-end team event on synthetics. If the XP has the same core I now know just how I want it drilled up. Here is an UP-DATE to my ball review on the SuperNova on synthetics;
I bowled two different houses both synthetic. First house Chrismas tree 40' tournament played 22 swing to 15 Excellent length, Awsome finish. Ball had several lite off hits but carried from everywhere! Shot 258,190 W/open 10th frame,204 W/ 2 open frames in the game. Second house SPORT 39' same shot and speed 227,214,199. Conclusion; This ball is not afraid of oil, it loves it. As a matter of fact it likes synthetics better than wood, as wood lanes have a tendency to dry up where synthetics seem to carrydown more. This ball still has a nice even finish even with carrydown. Thank's handmeDN

Here is a quick first impression type of review. I just took delivery today and pretty much rushed it over to my ball driller, Otis Pillow at Otis Pro Shop in Hurst, Texas. The ball is 16lbs.2oz. , 3.5oz. top weight, and 3.5" pin, knowing that I wanted a bigger back end ball that had more length than my G-Force solid, Otis drilled it up very close to my solid but swore up and down it would have more length. The ball is drilled pin above ring with the cg kicked out a little and the mb 1.75" right and a little below the thumb hole. I am a right handed speed dominant stroker and generally go up the boards but can swing it when need be. I then had to run directly to league at another house, new AMF synthetics with really clean backends, first practice shot with the solid up 10 out to only about 6 or so and 10 in the pit, next practice shot with the supernova same line, ball went much farther and I thought oh no, but only for a instant because the ball made a very, very strong move clipped the 2 pin on its way to the 4. I ended up standing right foot on 22, crossing 13 at the arrows out to 4 or 5 at the break point! Holy cow this thing hooks, way stronger than the solid and way differant in the shape of the shot also, carrydown is not an issue with this ball either in fact when all the others were starting to squirt the supernova only got stronger and I had to move deeper, the only thing you must have is some oil or you will have some trouble. All in all a truly superb piece of equipment for stroker like me. I will update later after the next tourament and some more league play.

With every Lane #1 release, I am more and more impressed.

I laid out my SuperNova with the pin 4 1/2" from my PAP and 3" above my midline, and the mass bias 4 3/4" from my PAP.

The SuperNova has a heavy, heavy roll and hits the dry and keeps going. I tried it on our house shot and on the 35' Cheetah pattern.

On our house shot is where the ball performed best. It provided plenty of recovery on shots thrown into the swamp in the middle of the lane. I was able to open up the lane and the ball just kept coming all the way through the pin deck. As usual, the famous Lane #1 hitting power was there every shot.

On the Cheetah, the ball was too much to play the gutter; it would hit the dry and leave many 3-6-10s. I was forced to move in about 10 boards more than I anticipated having to play in order to find a consistent reaction.

This is the strongest Lane #1 ball since they moved production to the San Antonio plant. It doesn't hook as early as the original G-Force, but has much more backend.

I got this ball a little over 3 months ago, and really the only time I can use this ball is if the outside of the lane is dry and it worked beautiful at my old bowling center b/c there lanes broke down quick, and I like to swing the ball so I could get this ball through the front good and when it hit the dry part of the lane it come back with a BANG. Now that I have moved to Utah the bowling centers here have really heavy oil and all this ball does is skid down the lane. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad ball it's just not right for these lanes. Well for the way I throw it anyway.

I purchased this ball in July from a user on BBE. Drilled it pin at 12 o'clock above the fingers and the CG kicked out slightly. Sanded it at 1000 Abralon, no polish. Ball rolls super smooth and evenly. Revs up very good and moves well off the outside boards. Can play either swing shot outside 6, or up the center at about 13. Carry is absolutely sick. Light hits swirl and trip the 7 and consistently carries the 10. Thinking about trying it polished and seeing what the angular snap will do....but that's another story.

Overall - 8.5 out of 10

Have had this ball since the spring of 2008. Wanted something for heavier oil from Lane #1 and this ball really fit the bill. It's still in box condition. All I've done is cleaned it after every use. Huge flare....more than my BuzzBOMB yet the layouts are almost identical. Layout is 4 1/2" X 4 1/2" stacked. Reaction is a very hard arc and carry is outstanding! Coverstock is easily adjustable and the light load particle cover gives you that extra bit of control.

One other interesting point about this ball....used it a few times when I spared for a friend of mine in a PBA Experience league. The pattern was "The Shark" -- the longest of the ones they use -- and the Supernova outperformed anything that was out there at that time -- people were using Brunswick Twisted Fury's, Track's The Rising, Roto-Grip's Cell and Ebonite's NVD -- my carry with the Supernova was much better! I ended up posting scores of 913 & 904 for 4 games the last 2 times on this pattern when no one else had a series over 850!

The Supernova is not new anymore but still current in the Lane #1 lineup. Highly recommend this one if you're looking for a high-flaring, great ball for oily conditions.

Another ball i got from saw head. Another ball that came in drilled stacked leverage. Out of the the three lane one balls I have I like this one the best It is longer than both the dynamo x2 and the agent orange. The supernova is clean in the fronts and hits the midlane with a controlled arc and hits like a freighttrain. This like my other 2 lane one balls the hit is better than I was expecting. The supernova is the best ball I have thrown in quite a while I would definatly rate this ball very high 9.5 out of a 10. Looking forwards to getting my buzzbomb/R Should fall nicely under the supernova for drier lanes. Well hope u like my review on the supernova. My specs are in my profile.

Likes: Smooth, very predictable move off the dry, can swing it deep or play straighter and still carry, good with carry down & as always Lane 1 Carry.

1st House: THS, synthetic lanes.

This house is usually played down and in. Most people stand around center dot, throw over 10 out to 5 even with the high speed, high rev players play this area. Where I 17-20mph depending on the condition with about 350-400 revs I stand 10 left of center dot throw over 13 out to 5 and just boom just crushed the pocket. I could also move right and play normal track area as everybody else just soften up my hand and boom all 10 in the pit. If other people tried swinging their equipment they would leave corner pins or their ball just wouldn't turn the corner.

2nd House: Modified cheetah pattern, oiled 28' on right and 27' on left, buffed 10-10 down to 40' with 19.6 ml of oil

Standing 5 left of center dot throwing over 13 out to 10 and this ball just crushed the pocket as long as I kept the speed on the ball. If I wanted to swing it I would just move 5 boards left with feet & soften up the speed a touch and ball was still there.

Have yet to see over/under with this ball, ball is so smooth of the dry. With the way it's drilled (sorry can't tell you how cuz I'm no expert) this ball has a banana shaped hook, it's not long then snap, very continuation through the deck, ball drives amazingly through the pins with a lot of messangers
