Ball is just off the charts in all out hook.

Drilled mine 4 7/8 x 3 1/8.
Pin pretty much center of grip and under bridge, cg obviously swung out.

Hole in the thumb quadrant about 2 1/4 " away from PAP.

If I ever came up against heavy oil in the past, I would use my Apex Aggresion, well not anymore.

This ball puts all others to shame in overall hook, and carry.

Tried it in my home house, on easy 10- 10 conditions-

Couldnt do much unless I stood way right, (LH'er)
Wasnt at its best here but was playable with a deep inside angle, carried better the deeper I went.

Used it tonight for the 1st time in what is a sport type shot but not advertised as such, ( very tough)

Have been struggling in this house all year, 205+ about 25 lower than anywhere else.
This is where it came to life , usually 10 and out is OB, not anymore with the SCB.

I could play it inside and swing it out as far as I wanted/no problem coming back.

Ball just keeps on coming and no roll out. Carries exceptionally well also.

Shot 716, which may not sound like much but at this house and these conditions, it is a ton, (Won many brackets and pots with it 1st time out.)

Very happy so far

Pretty much the biggest hooker I have seen so far, with the carry to go right along with it.

I guess I have an Aggression for sale now, no need for it anymore.

I do have these and all BUZZSAWS in stock as always, and disc. ones as well.

Lane Condition 1:  Wood Oiled 40 feet buff to 45.  10 to 10
Lane Condition 2:  Syn  Oiled 40 feet with carrydown. 8 to 8.
Drill Pattern:  Pin under ring finger.  CG kicked Out (right) at 40 degrees for a 5 1/2 by 3 1/2.  PAP 6 over.

Condition 1 - Just finished throwing Emerald drilled the same way and wanted to see how big a difference there was.  Well, needing oil is the key here.  The Super Carbide Bomb needs lots of oli.  There was a 15 board difference between the Emerald and the Super Carbide Bomb.  Even with a ball speed at 18 - 20 mph I have to move to 23 board to get to the pocket.  This ball has plenty of energy as it just drove through the pins.  I thought about taking it in the shop and taking a gray scotch bite to it.  Then I remembered that I bought it for heavy oil or flood so leave it alone.

Condition 2 - Just a repeat as condition 1.  Standing on 23 sending the ball out to 5 and watch it come back.  Pulled it in to 10 and still this ball just woukld not quit.  247 score.

If you want the most hooking ball on the market this is it.  I give it 12 strikes out of 12.

You have to remember when to put this ball up.  This not a medium oil ball but a heavy oil ball.

Just just shot 279-278-243-800 in the Ball reviews Tourney with my Super Carbide Bomb. Ball was drilled 4.5 x 3 with a 7/8 x-hole 2 inches deep. Ball weighs out at 3/8 positive side. I also hit this ball with Ebonite Particle Polish (Their Polish works great but their particle balls are crap)and then with Ultimate Black Magic. I was playing 5th arrow from the start and got even deeper the 3rd game after leaving a greek church in the 7th frame. Had to punch for 800 even and did it after I moved even deeper. Ball still recovered enough to kick out the 10's from that deep. This ball is a definate winner. Later Beans

Watch out boys and gorls there is a new big dog on the market.  Just got this ball drilled 3 3/8 x 3 3/8 with 3" pin level with fingers.  I think i just bought a ball that I may hardly ever use!!!  Ball just hooks too much for the condition that I bowl on.  Out hooks the original Carbide Bomb and my Colossus Supreme.  I bowl one night a week after the ladies and carrydown is a big problem on the first pair of lanes in the house.  I throw with moderate speed 17 - 18 mph and was having a hard time getting my other balls to go into a roll with the carrydown.  This ball has no problem.  The cover along with the mini-nuggets really powers the ball into the pocket.  DON'T MISS LEFT with this ball because no amount of oil that I have seen will carry this ball down the lane!!!  Does exactly what it is supposed to do and that is hook.  I give the ball a 9.5 out of 10 on my scale just because it is too aggressive for most conditions, but it does what it is made to do.  Even with all of its hook it still demolishes the rack.  Can't wait to use it on the condition that it was meant for.

Just a little follow up.  Used the ball last night when I couldn't get anything to roll.  This ball rolled!!!  I had to move 11 boards left to get this one out far enough to get to the pocket standing on 32 and playing 25 out to around 7.  Once I got lined up I hit the last six of my first game, first 7 of my second game until I left a 10 pin, then finished the last four of that game and started with the first 4 of the last game until the condition dried out a little too much for the ball.  I forgot to mention that the flare is utterly amazing on this ball.  Almost the entire ball was encompassed by flare rings.

I have had this ball for about 3 weeks and I finally put enough games on it in a variety of conditions to give this ball a review.  Ball is drilled with the pin next to the ring finger, cg kicked out a little, small weight hole on my val, ball wound up with about 7/8 side weight, and 1/2 fingers.  As previously mentioned in numerous posts about this ball, it has a lot of flare.  About 8" or more.  This could either be a bad thing (ball burns out in no oil), or as the ball is designed a very good thing in oil.  Do not overthrow this ball (speed) in oil as any ball will skid in a flood.  Ball out hooks  everything I have by at least 10 boards (lane 1 lrg drilled max leverage, etc), and has a very good backend.  Just remember to put it away when the lanes are dry.

On tuesday, I tried to use this ball in one of my leagues, wood house, they set the house up for crankers, almost a reverse block.  Had to put the ball away after 4 frames, two of them splits.  Wound up shooting junk (477) for the night.  Decided to polish the cover, as others that have posted, and give it a whirl.  Threw it last night (Wednesday) immediately after polishing it with Storm Extras, shot a 700 with it.  Not bad considering I'm about 10 pins down on average in this house.  Ball carried almost everything in the pocket, 2 tens, a 8 and a 9 all night.  I am going to get another and keep one dull, one polished.  Ball hits, and hits and hits

When I first starting throwing this ball I could not believe the hook!  It took me about a game and a half to figure the speed and shot before I started stringing them. the speed I was throwing was about 22mph and standing about the 45 throwing the 17 at the arrows with a swing that would go out to about the 3 to 5 board.  After about 6 games the ball tamed down for me or maybe I just relaxed a little more throwing it?  But I am now able to throw comfortably at about 17 mph.

I bowl on a pretty standard oil pattern for leagues, and I mainly bowl on real wood.  The ball is drilled full leverage with a 3" pin 3-3/8 X 3-3/8 with 3/4 oz side weight No finger weight 1-3/4 top weight.  I predominantly release straight up the back of the ball (my favorite release)

After I slowed this ball down and started playing a little tighter I started shooting 650's to 720's,( I have averaged 194 to 197 for about the last 7 or 8 years) the line I have settled into is standing right foot on the 35 throwing the arrows at the 8 to 10 boards with the total swing that goes out to the 3 to 5 board.  The move to the pocket is very strong and quite IMPRESSIVE!  I have left more 7 pins then ever before (almost never before) but it has been very good at taking out the 8-9-10  (of coarse the 7 pin is a whole lot easier than the ten for a right hander to pick up)

I thought I would see how much oil this ball was picking up so I placed it in a ball rejuvenator (ball oven)after about 20 games for about 10 minutes to see how much oil this ball has picked up and to my surprise (and the Pro Shop Pro) there was not a drop to be seen!  The ball is not showing much of a track at all after my first 35 games or so, but I think that has a lot to do with the amount of flare that the ball has!  Which almost encompasses the whole ball!

This Super Carbide Bomb outhooks my Carbide Bomb by about 15 boards on the dry boards and by about 5 to 7 boards in the heavy oil.

Overall I am falling in love with this ball as my strike percentage has been increasing weekly!  I will give this ball a full 10 for showing me that even I can shatter the pins with the ease of having a consistent roll and release!

WOW what a ball! ball came in w/ 3 2/3 top and a 3 3/4 pin. applied my fav. drill pattern of 4 1/2 by 4 1/2 w/ the 3 3/4 above my grip ctr. over the ring fngr. w/ a wght hole on my val 1 3/4 in down from my pap. trying throwing this puppy out of box finish{35 micron} FORGET ABOUT IT! DON'T HAVE ENOUGH OIL AROUND HERE TO USE IT LIKE THAT! used a 10 micron, then 5 micron trizat on it and now were talking thru the heads{ as long as you have some oil in the heads} this ball is designed for oil and it eats it up.still can't use on wood, great on oily plastic and then i haven't been able to use for all 3 gms. i have shot 267 and a 279 in the 2 wks i've had it but haven't made the right moves to shoot a big set w/ it yet and not sure you can use it for all 3 gms. for an avg rev player i get amazing hit and carry w/ it everyone else is trying to get their back to the pocket. a+ rating on oil, but you have to know when to put back in the bag.

Hey Guys,
My name is Tom "Beans" Biniek Jr. and I am a PBA Regional Bowler and a Lane#1 BUZZSAW PRO STAFF MEMBER!!
My stats are:

Rev Rate:Med-High

Axis Tilt:High

Speed: Average 16.8-17.3 mph(On Quibica Scoring)

PAP: 4 5/8> 1/2^

Here is my review of this ball:
Ball: SUPER CARBIDE BOMB

Layout: Pin 4 1/4" from PAP below fingers and CG 3" from PAP with 5" Extra Hole back to 1/2 positive. 1/2 oz. Finger weight.

Mr. Buzzsaw sent me my test ball to drill up and I drilled it right up with my favorite layout. 5x3 pin below fingers. Out of the box it was just too much early grab for my high rev rate and the ball burned up even with a weeker pin placement. I did get to throw it in a tournament that was a flood and I shot 247-258-199 with it the first three games. The 199 is when the heads went away a little and the ball just wouldn't hit the pins becasue of the early burn. I then shined the ball up and tried it out again. This time it was too close to my Pearl Bomb so I decided to put it in the closet and get another from Lane#1. This time I shined the ball up right out of the box and drilled it a little stronger pin placement. Here is what I got from this ball:

This ball is absolutely UNREAL on the fresh. It gets throughthe fronts alot better shined and retains axis rotation longer. It still starts to slow down in the midlane but retains enough to let loose in the backend. It is very sharp in the back but not a violent snap due to the High Load Carbide Particle cover. As the fronts burned up I was able to move left and still get alot of recovery that is unusual with a high load particle ball. Never lost hit. So far, I have made over $3,000 with this ball in tournaments, brackets and side action and shot (2) 800's with it. Can't wait to unlease this ball on the EAstern Region this year. I have these available at a great price if you would like to purchase one. Thanks for reading  Beans

This is my third Lane#1 ball, having previously bought the LRG and the Purple Pro.  This is by far the strongest back end move of any ball i have ever thrown.

I am a righty and I have above average speed, medium revs and a low track due to the large size of my hands which exaggerates a natural side rotation on release.

TECH STUFF:
Pin is just to the right and below the ring finger, putting the pap about 4 inches from the ring finger and the drilling is a basic leverage with a balance hole on the VAL above the grip center.

RAVE:
First thing you notice is the flare.  Many pronounced rings, placed wide apart.  The move is pronounced and strong, allowing me to shoot out through third arrow from deep when others are struggling to turn the corner from second arrow.  Have only had it roll out once or twice and then you just move a bit deeper onto the fresher oil and away she goes again.  Have used this ball on a medium wet crowned condition, a drier crowned condition and a flat condition with serious carry down.  I was able to use this ball on all these conditions with success, although the dry condition meant a very deep shot with speed to control the jump to the pins.

OVERALL:
First out of the bag, no doubts.  Expect my average to go from 197 to low 200s.
Ball looks ugly by the end of a set with lines all over the dull surface due to the ball returns etc.  A quick clean at the end of EVERY set and the ball looks a million bucks again.  Pity no-one stocks Lane#1 here in Australia, this one like the others came by plane making it expensive, but definitely worth the money.

I bought this ball for when the lane was flooded and when I couldn't use the Cherry Bomb.  15# 3.3oz top weight. I had it drilled per Lane #1 specs with Length 8, Backend 9.

I really haven't come across flooded enough lanes to really warrent use of this ball.  This ball REALLY moves on medium oil lanes, but seems to roll too early on them and use up it's stuff.  I really can't wait to see it in its enviroment.

This ball really does need oil, the more the better from what I can tell.  I will re-review this when I can get fair shake down on the ball.

Right now, I can only rate the ball an 8 of 10.  It needs flooded lanes to work, and really is a specialized ball.  This ball would more than likely get a 10 of 10 on the floods, and the key knowledge for this ball would be to know when to put it away and pull out your other ball.

This ball was my first Lane 1 product, and I have to say that I was not impressed. The big thing that I'd always heard about Lane 1 was the hit. Some people claimed that these balls hit so hard that people would snap their heads around to see what caused it. The SCB did hit hard, but, as is the case with most things, it did not live up to all of the hype. In box condition this ball was like any other high-load particle. It rolled very early and gave little to nothing on the backend. It performed fairly well on a heavy-oil tournament shot, but not spectacular. After realizing that my $230 ball was never going to see use in box condition, I polished the lights out of it to see if it could be used on heavier mediums. The ball was a bit over/under with this finish, but it did liven up the backend significantly and allow me to use it more often. I suppose if you see oil spills on a regular basis this ball can be good. However, I doubt that most bowlers will see that much juice on a regular basis. Lane 1 was definitely on the right track when they took the core out of this one and combined it with the pearl reactive cover of the Cherry Bomb, thus, making it much more useable. Not a bad ball, just too strong for 95% of the conditions that bowlers will face on a regular basis. However, on the rare occasion when that condition presents itself, it's a winner. 8.5 out of 10.

Bowling is without a doubt the dumbest, most pointless, most idiotic excuse for a game that has ever been invented. So, what time are we bowling tomorrow?

I think the way your pro shop guy drills your ball has a lot to do with the reaction of  it.  I had mine drilled at Cedar Creek in Marietta, Georgia and a guy named Lou did an excellent job.  The ball is drilled to have maximum flare and smooth arc.  Nothing else fancy at all. He even did it without putting a counter weight hole in the ball.  Did an excellent job on the PAP for me to give smooth arc.  The ball hits hard and didn't leave but 2 ten pins all night.  I shot  199, 179 and 208 first night with it in heavy oil.  Only 2 or 3 more bowlers in the league had a higher average than I did that night.  The ball works.  It is not an ordinary ball and an ordinary driller in a pro shop can't do it any justice.  It is technical ball and requires technical expertise to get the results you want.  Best ball I have ever had to date for heavy oil.

I picked this ball up used from a fellow ball reviews member.  The ball has been plugged once and fully resurfaced to factory specs using a HAUS.

Ball came with a 2" pin and medium top weight.  I drilled this ball stacked leverage, cg 2" over from the center of grip and pin directly above.  This gives about a 3.4 X 3 layout.  A small weight hole was placed on the mid line approx 1/2 way between cg and VAL.

The out of the box surface on this ball is incredibly strong.  Unless the lane machine was broken and put out quadruple oil, I can't see how anyone could possibly throw this beast.  One a normal heavier oil house shot, this ball just burnt up 25' down the lane.  AS a result, the hit and carry were less than desirable.

Went back to the pro-shop and hit this ball with polish.  Started with Ebonite particle polish to give a gloss.  Then applied some factory finish polish, then a final coat of extender polish.  This gave the ball a nice glossy coat and overall a better appearance.

Went back out on the lanes and the SCB acted like a different ball.  The ball cleared the heads, made a very strong move in the mid-lane and crushed the rack.  The hit and power of this ball is superb.  Flare on this ball is unreal...  6" to 8".  Threw about a 15 frames playing the same line (15 to 8), then noticed the hit and carry starting to go away.  After watching a couple additional shots more closely, I noticed this ball starting to burn up a little early again.  It never jumped and went high, but the hit and carry started to leave.  I moved my feet 5 boards left and target 3 left and right back to the previous super hit and carry.

This is an amazing ball for heavy oil, but that is just it.  You need heavy oil.  There must be a lot of oil up front to get this hook monster down the lane without expending too much energy.  If it does, the hit and carry suffer.  If you can keep moving to stay in the oil, this ball is phenomenal...

I would recommend this ball for anyone who has trouble overcoming heavy oil conditions.  This ball will give you the power to cut through the oil and HIT.  But, you have to be very observant of the ball reaction and know when to start moving, otherwise you will end up with weaker hits and possibly corner pins.  This ball is definitely a heavy oiler.... with only the very high speed players being able to make it work on anything less.    Overall, first out of the bag for heavy oil conditions.

First Let me say that this is the Polished version, which is approved by the USBC.  See my profile for bowler specs.

specs: 15#, 2" pin, and 2.5 ounces of TW.

layout: pin below the ring, slight right of 6 o'clock, and cg slightly right of grip center, almost stacked (no weight hole needed).

conditions: 10 units of oil (1-6 board), 20 units (7-11), and approx. 30 units from 12-12 (middle), with the length of 38', and clean backs.  Pattern is somewhat like a christmas tree/staggered.

Started out standing 27 board (with left foot) throwing approx. 13/14 board to 9/10, with awesome reaction, but with my speed, even with decent revs, if I laid it down to deep, it recovered light, but still carried, with a couple of weak 10s.  If I tugged it a bit, too much into the oil, it held the line, with often a better power strike than a flushed shot. First and second games were 225, and 205, due to a couple of bowler errors, and mental mistakes.

Third game, setteled down, and some carry down, but boy did the lanes open up, moved to 29 board with left foot, and threw 16 out to 10, with pocket crushing results, and if I went a couple of boards wide, it still caught the lighter boards, and still made the pocket.  Final game was a 258, and should have been higher, but took me a couple of frames to make the move deeper.

Flare pattern on my dull SCB is almost 9-10", and with the PSCB, I was getting almost 8" of flare.  What a ball, I am considering getting a second PSCB, with a 4" pin, and seeing if I can lay it out for medium conditions (possibly with a sanding to 800 or 1000, and polish).  I am so glad they approved this ball, and would recommend it to anyone, depending on profile, and desired conditions.

I would give it a 10 of 10!!

Dave
