Same core but the coverstock is a pearl resin as opposed to the solid resin of the BUzzbomb.

The pearl will be cleaner up front and in the mids while have a significantly bigger backend.

Thanks Doug!

At the moment I'm trying to decide between the Buzzbomb and Supernova(blue/red). Which will be the better choice for versatility? Pros and Cons of both? I'm a complete newbie when it comes to Lane 1. I hope to have a good 1st experience with this brand. Sorry, I don't mean to hi-jack this thread by the way.

both of the balls are good choices and both take polish well making them versitle my expirences are as follows

supernova solid:  Great midlane read, not an entire monster on the backend but a very decent move and devasting pin carry.  Very predictible, smooth read with enough pop to handle the pins
Cons:
it is a particle solid, it does need some oil to properly work (even polished) some of the users say this ball dies, I personally have never expirenced this as the ball always has had the same reaction on the same pattern since new, I do however adjust back to my desired surface every 30-45 games

Buzzbomb:
Out of box for me was very very strong, too srong for a house shot, but once taken to 1500 wet sand and some polish (first go around was strictly polish and it was night and day as well.
A buzzbomb polished and kept in that polished state for me was about as versitle as I would need, I have thrown it on anything from 37 ft house shot to 42 ft flat pattern and am always able to find a shot of some sorts, sometimes its swinging the boards sometimes its up ten, it just depends

of the two the both are good balls, supernova offers predictiblity and smoothness, where as in my opinion the BB offers a tad more versitlity, as it is very receptive to hand changes and can recover from differing angles that the supernova cannot

Supernova Solid has better carry than buzzbomb, but doesn't swing as well as the Buzzbomb.  Supernova also good with carrydown cause of it's midlane read. jsut my 2 cents.

How would the XP stand against the Supernova?

From what I see, the XP seems to be cleanest through the fronts compared to the BB and Supernova. In terms of overall hook, the XP seems to have the least.

Am I on the right page?

Supernova has a low-load particle in its coverstock.
Buzzbomb has one of the strongest solid covers I have ever seen on a ball.
Supernova XP gets down the lane the farthest and does have the least amount of hook.

I'd take Buzzbomb for fresh heavy conditions, Supernova for med-heavy with some carrydown/transition. I'd rate the Supernova XP as a great ball for fresh mediums, but it will definitely be more oil sensitive with it having the Xplosion Pearl coverstock compared to the other two.

Well Sherm for me there is no doubt about it...

The BuzzBomb is far superior to the SuperNova...hence the reason the SuperNova has been discontinued. I had 2 different Supernovas and didn't care for either drilled 2 ways each....pin under ring, pin over ring, stacked, cg out...didn't like any of them. Just did not get a reaction I cared for.

The Supernova is a smoother more even reaction....the cover and core will dictate that.

The BuzzBomb is a stronger cover and since it is a pure resin will have the potential to be stronger at the breakpoint and on the backend. Add to that the very dynamic Doomsday core and you have a strong ball that will still kick on the backend.

The SuperNova XP is a great ball as well. I really liked the way the ball cleared the heads, rolled smooth in the mids and had a great pop on the backend.

The new BB Pearl will be close to the XP but have more overall backend potential than the XP.
