« on: February 28, 2006, 09:06:12 AM »
On the Lane 1 site theres a new video of Rudy. He is cutting down on backswing and revs from 550 range to 450 range. Its all explained in the video

Ahh...it hurts to see the shorter backswing and lower revs...

Hopefully this does help out his game a lot more. It'd be great to see him on TV this year or next.

Still blows my mind that on the tour people play as deep as he does,  he was throwing left of the fourth arrow.  I've tried that a few times for fun and I couldn't do anything with that no matter what shot was out.

me...... (finally decided to add a signature)

Try left of the 6th arrow for a lot of bowlers in a lot of tournaments (especially on the 2nd squad).

I like what I see in the practice shots.  Hopefully he can apply what he's learned when the shots count.  Good timing and balance, and it looks like he's more behind the ball at release as well.  Still plenty of revs and power, but should be more controlable as well.

Just commenting on some of the other comments: The reason he is playing that deep is because it is a longer pattern. In general, the longer the pattern, the more inside you have to keep your breakpoint. Shorter patterns require you keep the breakpoint outside, and unless you have tommy jones revs to get the ball to recover from 2 board playing a swing from 20, it generally requires playing a more direct outside line (you even see robert smith playing straighter and harder up the boards on pattern E).

I like the changes, but still think he will be the ultimate action bowler and will never be as good on tour as he is off the tour. Can you imagine how intimidating it has to be bowling rudy revs for a grand a game???
