For those that think Rudy stinks.
« on: December 16, 2005, 12:31:28 AM »
This is just to show how good he really can be and that there are going to be off weeks.

Missed the cut:

Patrick Allen
Parker Bohn
Norm Duke
Tom Baker
Jason Couch
Brian Himmler
Joe Ciccone
Dave D'Entremont
Rick Steelsmith
Steve Jeros
Bob Learn Jr.

Just to name a few stars and those are some of the best.

Way to go Rudy and good luck man way to grind.  I'm sure Triggerman will chime in and take my side here.

I disagree.

If you are a guy who consistently is pretty accurate but have trouble carrying on league conditions....You may go up on PBA patterns.

I do...when I bowl in PRO ams I am often just slightly trailing the pros which is higher than my normal league standard.  Many of my acquaintances go from the 1902 to the 130s.

Because PBA patterns in general have a lot of backend and they are tough to find the pocket...often with a lot of head oil in the front and a pretty flat pattern.

This is a shot that is not that hard for me.  However I struggle in league often if the requirement is speed.

REgards,

PS however one time I took in my league stuff(high flare stacked stuff I was killin our local shot with) and embarrassed myself like everyone else!

Part of being a great bowler is being able to adapt to the conditions and Rudy hasn't been able to do that.  Robert Smith throws the same way and shoots just fine and has won on tour.

lucky--you know they do not use the same oil pattern for pro am's as they do for the actual event!!! they use a house shot..the number of folk that tell me they shot higher than the pro's at the pro am is crazy...its totally different.they would not get folk signing up if they could only shoot 120.

Actually it depends.
Went to Indy 2 years ago and they put out a house shot but at Chicago they put down the tourney shot (Shark). I know this cause I asked the guy that was oiling the lanes.
I shot better in Chicago than Indy.

It varies and depends on the house, some use house shot and some use the pba pattern that is used the rest of the weekend.  Most alley owners would rather have a house shot for their scores to be up in the pro ams.
