Title: Help new to lane 1
Post by: cooksey on April 11, 2004, 04:20:16 PM
Hello all, I am a newbie to throwing lane 1 balls. I have only recently got my first one, a cheery bomb. I love the reaction and hit on the ball. It seems to fit my style well. I also have an emerald on the way for more length. My question is what 2 other lane 1 balls would compliment these 2 and cover most conditions excluding an xxxl please. Let me know what you think.

Thanks, cooksey

Cooksey,

Well, it seems like you've got some of the medium to lighter-mediums covered with those two balls, so here are some options for some of the heavier conditions you might see:

In order of strongest to weakest:
Super Carbide Bomb (for soup and soup only)
Black Cherry Bomb (Very strong, but can be polished for more versatility)
Uranium (Great benchmark ball, moves earlier and stronger than the CB)
Cranberry (Good option for a standard, solid reactive)

You also may want to look into getting a GN for when your heads are going away but there's some carrydown. I've found particle pearls shine on that condition, and the GN should be no exception. That's just my .02. I'm sure there are other sawheads who know a great deal more than I do. Good luck and good bowling to you.

Bowling is without a doubt the dumbest, most pointless, most idiotic excuse for a game that has ever been invented. So, what time are we bowling tomorrow?

Cooksy, I agree with Gene on most of his reccommendations.

If it were me, to go along with what you now have, I would get the:

Super Carbide Bomb (for the soup)

Golden Nugget (for the carry down Gene described)

Uranium (will cover from light oil to medium oil and for some people  even medium-heavy. This is the most versitile ball out there. First ball out of my bag and most others too that have this ball) It probably covers 70% or more of the conditions I run in to, where I live.

With what you already have, "I think" this should cover most any conditions you run into.

For a really expert opinion, contact Doug Sterner at DougsProShop@aol.com for his recommendations.

He is probably the most knowledgeable person on this site when it comes to Buzzsaws. He also has the lowest prices that I am aware of plus he is an expert driller.

LMAO at Brimar's statement. In reality, he is correct.

LOL I guess you guys are right. Sorry for the mispelled wording, but thanks for all the suggestions. But hey the ball does make me "cheery" when I throw it because it works so well.

Thanks, cooksey
