Title: Lane 1 Chainsaw grit?
Post by: jimjames on September 23, 2022, 11:23:44 PM
Gonna bring my chainsaw out of the closet and take it to the lanes, but want the pro shop to bring it somewhat back to stock condition. Has been so long since I've thrown it that I cannot remember the OOB grit for said ball. Have researched but not able to find  anything other than listings ranging anywhere from 2.69 to 2.59 RG with a 0.18 Diff. Anyone remember the OOB grit of ball when new? Know it's a 'highly polished' ball though. Being on the West Coast, not many even know what a Lane 1 ball is, sadly. Thanks much. Jim 8)

I had the chainsaw, but it's been several years. It was highly polished, that much I remember. Good dry lane ball

Not sure about the Chainsaw, but I keep my Tsunami H2O at 800 grit plus polish (Snake Oil for me). I "think" I remember reading that was the original surface prep, but I'm not positive. I'm also not sure how much they varied their surface prep from year to year or if different lines/balls were done differently.

Looking at Lane #1's website, it only listed "highly polished" as the surface but doesn't have the actual grit mentioned.

If you're on Facebook, go to sawhead nation group. Someone on there might know. Richie sometimes comments on that site,

Thanks all! Being an old ball, will play with the cover and see what develops. Thinking on starting off with an 800 grit with high polish and go from there.
