Title: Lane#1 Balls working great at recent tournaments!!!
Post by: BeansProShop on March 31, 2004, 12:53:29 AM
Hello fellow Saw blades.
I have recently recovered from my bicep injury and have hit a few tournaments the last month while getting ready for the upcoming PBA Regional season. I am waiting for a few more balls to arrive to layout for the difficult PBA patterns. Anyways, here is a brief list of my last 4 tournaments.

Late February
--------------------
Small scratch tourney with 4 game qualifier on a house pattern. Cut to top 40% and bowl 4 more games. Drop pins and top 5 stepladder.  Bowled +124 for the 4 game qualifier and qualified 5th. Bowled +62 for the next 4 and missed cashing. Just threw it bad in the semi's. Made $290 on the day with brackets!! Used the Uranium all day long. Drilled 4.5x3 with a 2.5" pin and a 3" extra hole. Ball weighed out at 7/8 poss side and 1/4 finger.

Bowled the POP Remington in Allentowm ,Pa. the following week. Bowl 4 games of qualifying on a 38 foot pattern. Not a house shot and there was 223 bowlers. 1 in 6 advance to bowl 2 more games with carryover and top 5 bowl on local television. Qualified 13th with +107. Used the same Uranium as above during qualifying. 2nd squad bowled without re-oil. Shot +154 after the 2 game semis to get to 8th place. Just missed the TV show. Used the Uranium as above through the whole day. Started playing 13 to 5 and ended playing the 6th arrow over the cap fallback. Made $910 on the day with cashing, brackets and won 2 pots. Not Bad!!

March
---------------------
Bowled our city tournament. Not much dough involved. Bowled 638-654-658 for my team/singles/doubles scores. Finished top 10 in all events. Not very impressive!!!

Bowled an 8 game marathon this week on a 43 foot heavy pattern. Shot 175 out of the box with the Uranium listed above. Ball was too long and sharp. Lots of 2-10 splits. Put it away and pulled out the Golden Nugget drilled 5.5x4.5 with no hole. 3/4 pos. side 1/2 finger. Played down 9-10 with it just missing OB at 7 to ditch. Shot 210-204 with it next 2 games. Lanes transitioned and I swithed back to the Uranium and shot the lights out getting to +175 with a 203 in there. Finished 3rd and made $665 in brackets/pots and cashing.

Bowled the Ideal Open last week in Endicott,NY. $5000 First place. Modified Eliminator format. 35 foot Flat pattern. Difficult conditions. Used Uranium first 3 games to shoot 614. Bowled 190 first game with (3) 9 pins. Switched to Golden Nugget in game 2 to try to play straighter. Went open-open-spare-open-open next 5 frames. Ball worked great I just kept leaking it into the OB. Swithed to my Uranium drilled 4.5x5 label pin below fingers. 1/4 pos side and 1/4 finger. Threw a 6 bagger for 203 (Lol!) Saved my bracket draw though. Shot 221 with a missed 10 pin last game. Did not lead my pair. Bowled again and threw same Uranium to shoot 670 and lead the pair and wipe up the brackets. Only 31 total though. Kept using the Uranium as lanes transitioned and became easier after carrydown in middle. Hit bad pair and tried to stay with Uranium and just missed the step ladder. Finished 6th place.  Made $340 total with brackets and cashing.

This weekend is a big tourney in Waverly,NY for $3500 Guaranteed!! I have bowled well inthe past there but really stunk last year. They just put new Synthetic overlays in this past year so we will see what happens. Sweeper and doubles tournament on Friday.  I am feeling confident. So far I have not really found a pattern that my 2 Uraniums won't excel on. I urge you to try one. They are really good. The best Buzzsaw yet and I have thrown them all!!!

Thanks for relating your recent tournament experiences, Beans.  Makes much better reading than the usual "this ball sucks and that ball's great" stuff.

Why didn't you bowl the regional in Patchogue last weekend?

Although I go to every tournament with the mind set that I will win that day. The Patchague regional was just not worth me going to. I was not sharp enough and the prize fund could not justify the expense it would have cost me to go. Missing work and the very high prices of hotels and the travel on Long Island didn't really turn me on to much. Plus the new points and prize funds start this month. i will be attending as many if not all of the future regionals as long as my body can hold up.  Thanks   Beans

Well I absolutely sucked this past weekend in Waverly,NY.  They put out a long very heavy oil pattern. Nobody was hooking it. Cut was +10 for 4 games. I bowled 2 squads and shot -40 and -50. Had a shot the first squad but shot 158 last game for -40. Ordered some new balls from Lane#1 to drill for the 5 regional patterns. Hope they arrive soon. I only have balls drilled fairly week right now and I need a few to fill out my arsenal. Won't post what balls I threw because I tried most of them and it just came down to bad exocution. Regional in 2 weeks. Later  Beans
