A Buzzsaw XXXL, which a friend gave to me last night. It's in really good condition and it's going to get plugged and drilled some time next week.
Hopefully this will come in handy when summer tournaments gets rolling this year.

Original Black BuzzSaw from the 90's. I forgot what year it was. The label was yellow poured by the Big B. Got rid of that not too long afterwards as well. I didn't match up to it. That was the only time I tried them. That was way before the PBA went to the product registration and thank goodness they were not that expensive through the PBA offers.

I've had dozens of Lane 1 balls over the last 10 years. I still feel that they offer pin carry that is tough to match. And I'm not talking the gimmicks of the diamond carrying better due to dynamics blah blah. The Buzzsaw core hs proven itself time and time again with many of my bowlers. I'd love to see an R2S cover on the Buzzsaw core! ;D

How much was this ball when it was released?
I'm assuming it was up there for a polyester cover.... just like todays urethane being close to $130, pretty expensive for a urethane IMO

My first Lane 1 ball was the Dirty Bomb I believe. Nice piece!

Only Lane #1 ball to date is my Stealth Bomber solid which I seldom see conditions I can use it on but still love. Would have probably just bought the Dart for the dry as well if it was even $50 cheaper. Guess the market spoke on the pricing.

My first was a Cranberry. I liked it so much I bought a second.
It's sad to see Lane#1 essentially out of business. I'm down to a Super Carbide Bomb that I'll never part with, and an undrilled Max Curve.
Maybe one of the other ball manufacturers will pick up rights to the diamond core at some point.

$185 for a dry lane ball doesn't matter how good the ball is, hard pass. Only because I could get my SB NIB for about what most other companies were charging for a decent oiler is why I own one.

Oh, for gosh sakes, like for every other freaking company, there were always a few Lane#1 balls that were good for many people, ESPECIALLY, when they stuck to the basic Diamond shape (or diamond within diamond) and when poured by Brunswick. Heck, I'd guess 1 out of every 3 ball was a really good ball for many, many people.
Once they left Brunswick and screwed them, Karma hit their ass on the way out, and when they were made by 900 Global, I'd guess maybe 1 out 5 or 6 were good for a few people. I must have tried 15 of the 900Global made balls and the only one I still have is the Big Curve, and I don't give up on a ball until I've tried at least 2 drillings with 3 - 4 surfaces on each one in at least 3 different houses.
I've rarely seen one company make so many balls, covering the far ends of the spectrum from heavy load particle balls sanded to 320 grit to hyper-light oil balls that barely hook more than plastic.
I feel they almost resurrected themselves with the Panther series, but somehow, they managed to screw that up too. Few companies have shot themselves in the foot more often, I believe. They priced themselves out of competition in their last years. While some people say they got good deals from dealers, trying to find a Lane#1 dealer is more like trying to find someone to sell you chicken lips. They could have done great selling via the internet, but for some reason, they forced any internet sellers to sell their balls for much more than they were worth, to me, anyway. I think the Panther would have been a great value in the $115 - 135 range. Instead they sold for $160 - $190 when I last looked 3 or 4 years ago. Then their final petard was the $300 Difference, trying to out-Pinel Pinel.

My first Lane#1 ball was a Pearl Stealth Bomber. Total garbage. I tried 2 layouts and multiple surface changes and could never get a decent, consistent reaction from it. It finally ended up in a trash can at the bowling center. I picked it up as a NIB on eBay for less than $60 so it was no real big loss, just a colossal waste of time and effort.

Lots of people say the diamond cores matched up better with the Brunswick pours than the 900 Global ones (didn't hear about why the switch til now but no surprise because well Ritchie). IMO strong pearls are often very hit or miss. Still the market spoke.
