Where will the Army green Bomb fit in this mess??
« on: April 10, 2004, 04:20:35 PM »
I have
Pearl Carbide Bomb pin under grip cg swung right.
Golden Nugget same layout. (pin to right 1/2")
Pro Purple same layout but with pin above fingers.
Viper pin under cg swung right.
XXXL pin under ring cg in palm.

Where the heck will an Army Green fit in this mess.
pattern is either going to stay pin above ring with
Cg swung to right, or I am going to plug it all and shift pin
right and bring cg back to palm to try and get something
with a stronger layout in my bag for a different look.
Unless I get ideas from fellow sawheads, that will alter
my mind. If it does not fit anywhere I guess I will give it
to the wife.

I will give that some thought.
My PCB is at 10 micron and that
sumbiatch moves. May try this one
at 35 micron to see whats up. Which
drill pattern would you all recommend
for this experiment?

I kept it with pin above and cg swung out.
It is more even than my Pearl Bomb, stronger in the backend than
my Nugget, 8 boards stronger than my Pro Purple, but has the same
characteristics that my Pro Purple has (reads the lanes the same.)
All in all what a nice ball to add to the collection. Only thing is
now I have to get all my thumbs redone to match this one.
It had 0 reverse and 1/4" left pitch in it when I bought
it spans were EXACT, so I figured I would try it out. Man
I thought I had a clean thumb release before at 1/8 reverse and 0 RL.
I am cleaner out of the thumb and smoother onto the lane with this ball
than any other ball I have. All equipment is now in the process of having
all thumbs plugged and reslugged.

When I got the ball I went thru my routine to get everything ready
to go. I soak all used equipment in hot water to get out oil, clean it up,
took a maroon Scotchbrite to it on the spinner to get a good fresh cover
on it and then hit it with my well used 35 micron cab. I got done with it and
it looked a bit dull so I took some best shot cleaner/polish and gave it a good
heat treatment to put a bit of polish on the ball. I like it!!

I opened the thumb to my liking and threw a new set of quads in it and threw
267, 235, 209, 200, and 190. 711 for 3 games, 1101 for 5 games.
First 3 had 3 or 4 opens also. I HAVE NEVER had 500 after 2 games.

Buzzhead,

Not meaning to hijack the thread, and by the way, great scores, but I just anted to comment on the thumb pitch thing.

I have ALWAYS had thumb problems.  Big calluses, sore knuckle, the works.  I bought a used ball off e-bay and, like you, the span was PERFECT, but the pitch was different in the thumb.

Rather than re-drill, I thought I would try it.  I have been throwing 3/8 reverse and 0 L/R.  This ball had 1/2 reverse and 1/16R.  WOW, has it made a difference!

My thumb no longer hurts in the joint, my release is twice as clean, and the calluses have gone down so much that my thumb is now a size smaller, from 1 3/64 down to 1 1/32.

Needless to say that now ALL my balls are in the shop having this put into them.

Good luck and keep up the big scores!!
