Title: Uranium Solid, replacement for BCB?
Post by: golfnutFL on July 06, 2004, 12:31:49 AM
The polished Uranium is listed by Lane #1 as stronger than the pearl CB. So it seems to me that the Uranium Solid will be a very strong reactive ball, stronger than the BCB. Though the cores and coverstocks are different is Lane #1 really replacing the 2 cherry bombs or do you think that they are supposed to complement one another? If you have the 2 Uraniums why would you need the 2 CB's?

If you dont, you arent a true Buzzsaw fanatic.

But seriously, with changing both cores and coverstocks, until I can compare them myself, I dont know how or if they would complement each other.  I will wait until A_P_K reviews them.

Fanatical enough!!! In the past year I've bought the CB, BCB, SCB, Emerald, Cranberry, and GN. Does that qualify?? Hated the Cranberry. Love the Emerald and SCB on the right conditions. Hot and cold with the CB probably for the same reason I didn't like the cranberry, too much skid/flip for my liking. Love the BCB that's why I'm excited about the Uranium Solid. I'm just not sure of the usefullness of having both of them.

I did not care for the CB.  Just picked up a used BCB and having it plugged now.

I did like the old pearl cherry C2 and the pink Raspberry C2 and the Blueberry C2.

golfnutFL,

I owned both CB's, and I had a Uranium as well. There were some very obvious differences in the reactions that I got from these two lines. The CB's tended to flip harder than the Uranium did. For me, the Uranium would start up earlier than the pearl CB and it would offer a bit more overall hook. Plus, the Uranium was more archish than the CB, which was snappier. I'm assuming that the solid Uranium is going to be a bit more aggressive than the solid CB as well, and meant for a slightly higher volume of oil. To me, you could very easily have all 4 in the bag and use them very well, if drilled and prepared properly. But it really depends upon how many balls you want to carry. If you're carrying a 4-ball arsenal in which you want one ball for oil, one for medium, one for light and one for spares, then you certainly wouldn't need to own Uraniums and CB's. However, if you carry a lot of gear and desire options that give you slightly different shot shapes and such,  then picking up a few of these would be the way to go. It's all about perference. All of these balls are very good.

Bowling is without a doubt the dumbest, most pointless, most idiotic excuse for a game that has ever been invented. So, what time are we bowling tomorrow?

Gene,
Thanks for your insights. I, too, owned both CB's. I recently sold my pearl CB, I used it for about 50 games or so and it was more skid/snap than I prefer. I'm more comfortable with an arcing hook, my slightly scuffed BCB is more arc than skid/snap. It sounds as if the two Uraniums will fit my preferred hook type. I'm really looking forward to the release of the solid one!

No on replacing the Cherry Bombs, those will not be going away any time soon I'm told. Those balls are the Kings of the line I think. The Uranium solid I think will be more like a Super Carbide Bomb but with more arc through out the lane and won't roll out or burn up as fast as the SCB.
