Tsunami is the perfect ball
« on: May 04, 2006, 03:37:55 PM »
It does everything right, it's incredible.  Drilled it last Thursday before the summer league started, shot 964 (4 game league).  Tonight, I shot 996.  This is at the house I used to struggle at too.  Great length, incredible transition, and it HITS.  I'm kicking out 10's and I haven't left a single mixer 7 yet, and the pins are usually pretty dead at this house.  The ball is so comfortable to throw though that literally 95% of my strikes are flush, I've only had about 4 or 5 mixers in 8 games so far.  Nice hard arc, and when it moves, it moves powerfully.  I can very honestly say from what I've seen so far, this is the best ball I've ever thrown.  Compared to other balls I've loved, this one does everything better.  It really is unbelievable to watch.  I've thrown a couple where I'll let go and say, "Crap, that's gonna be flat . . huh, kicked the 10 out."  I've had a couple I thought might not even make it back to be mixers that pulled all the way back up and through the pocket.  Some of the mixers I've even though I came up behind it too much for it to carry, but it just blows them all off the deck, and they stay low.  I'm so impressed I really don't know what else to say.

Welcome to the club.  This ball seems to cover up mistakes better than any I have ever thrown as well.

I used to throw Saws, but this one is the first I've thrown in a while.  I had a Blueberry, Cranberry, Emerald, Carbide LRG, Uranium, Cherry Bomb, Solid Uranium, and a Pearl Viper.  I posted something random about wishing I could find a Carbide LRG, and fbila35 found one for me.  I'd been looking at a Tsunami for a while, and then one of my friends got one.  Then another one got one, and I was so impressed I had to go ahead and get it.  Fbila35 had one, so I had him send it too.  It really does cover up mistakes well.  I did well enough for 900 and 940 these first couple weeks in my estimation, but not 960 and nearly 1000.  I've had release problems both weeks too.  Not bowling so much anymore, so my hand has shrunk, and it makes getting something on the ball without dumping it kinda tricky for a couple games.

I've got an end of the season tournament that I qualified for Sunday.  No entry fee, and they take the top 10 averages from the house for the year, and we bowl round robin match play.  First place is $400.  Not big money, but for no entry fee, that's a nice little deal.  This ball gives me so much confidence going into this thing, that whenever the lanes break down far enough that I have to switch (if that ever happens), I'm sure it'll carry over to whatever else I go to.  Makes it very comfortable to throw the ball.  I even got some work in on my mechanics last night during the set!

I was sceptic to say the least that any ball is worth this much, but the Tsunami paid for itself in less than a week just in brackets and pot games. My average has gone up 10 pins since I got it. I am no longer afraid to hit the pocket flush. I don't think I have left anything on a flush hit in the last 6 months.

I believe there is a hitting to carrying ratio and most modern equipment hits too hard and slaps the pins over and around instead of down and into each other. If I hit flush with any of my x factor line I am usually grabbing my spare ball to shoot a smash 7 or 10. I believe for my game the Tsunami is at the top of the hill as far as the hit to carry ratio is concerned.

I am thinking about trying a cobalt or the new carbide plus, if they come out with a more agressive coverstock and the tsunami core I would pay $500 for it.

How did all of you drill your Tsunamis?

Yes, there is enough oil and no, the ball is not rolling-out.
Is that your answer to everything in life?

I stacked mine.  I still need to drill a weighthole (have about a half ounce too much sideweight), but I haven't decided where I want to put it yet.  Might just have to put it on axis and hope for the best.  It'll probably kill it though with my luck, lol.
