Title: XXXL Question
Post by: kodak on August 03, 2004, 10:15:08 PM
I have never used Lane #1 equipment.  I am pretty much 100% Storm, but the XXXL with the diamond core intrigues me.  I currently bowl on what I consider light to dry conditions on a wood surface.  I have too much hand and my speed is around 16 mph.  Currently, I have the majority of my equipment drilled reverse (pin to the left of my middle finger (I am right-handed)) so that I can get the ball down the lane with as little flare as possible.  I seem to think that this takes away from the hitting characteristic, but I am told that it doesn't.

Anyway, I was thinking of picking up a XXXL for this light to dry condition, but I still think it might be too much for dry where I would typically use a plastic ball with a pancake block and play 4th arrow.

Any ideas.

Another piece to possibly consider is the Urethane Gargoyle.  A number of people in my area have had success when the lanes start to burn up.

The XXXL works great on dry lanes. You might also want to try their new Bullet. This ball goes really long with minimal flare and hook off the dry. =:^D

The XXXL hooks approximately 1-2 boards more than my standard plastic ebonite maxim on dry.
The hitting power is approximately 10X my maxim when it hits the pocket.
Great ball for dry.
I may actually get rid of my "dry lane" balls and only use this one, and a black hammer, for when I need a "little" more.
