I've got a pin over the bridge YB at 4000 abralon and Extended Length polish that works VERY well !!!

The YB is a medium-heavy to heavy oil ball and is designed as such. So it is natural that it does not handle medium oil unless it is modifed by drilling or surface change,

Do you now want a medium-oil ball?

Try a light polish and see how much extra length you get. Then if you need more to handle your medium oil, add another light touch. If you add too much you'll have to go back to square one and start over.

I've found all Legends Diamond particle balls take to polish like a duck to water. You don't need much.

You'll get more length AND more backend. The core of the YB is designed for length, so be careful.

Good luck.

I've got mine with a nice medium polish to it.  Last time I resurfaced it was last week after bowling in our association tournament.  I dulled it down during doubles and singles, then used Valentino's Resurrection, followed by six sides of Snake Oil.  It's not nearly as shiny as, say, Storm's 1500-grit finish or Ebonite's 4000-grit plus Factory Polish, but reasonably shiny.

It gets pretty good length so long as there's oil.  The coverstock is entirely too strong to push through spotty heads or broken down backends.  As Jeff said, the core is designed for length and that helps some.  I agree that I get more length and considerably more backend with it polished.

The coverstock (like most Lanemasters covers) is very predictable when it comes to surface changes.  Each change does exactly what you'd expect.  However, I've found that while changing it does what you think it will, it's not easy to do.  Sanding takes some work because the cover's so durable.  When I polish, it seems like the surface is so grippy that it pulls the rag out of my hand.

If I may repeat what you probably already know for the sake of the poster,
The diamond particles are not changed by any sanding you may do unless you use diamond pads or possibly Trizact. You're changing only the resin base, in which the particles are embedded.

Polish adds definite length. Remember Snake Oil has no abrasive while Storm's polishes do. Snake Oil can add a nice gloss but only adds as much length as the underlying surface. your ball speed AND the oil amount allow. I like SO for just that reason (as well as Lanemasters own polish).

Yeah, I know.    Still takes a lot of work.

If the poster still needs some encouragement to shine his Baby up, I'll remind him that I shot my first 700 with mine two weeks ago.  And it's the only ball I've used in the last bunch of weeks of league.  And we're a lock for first place going into position round.  And 24-0 the last six weeks.  I won't go so far as to say my Baby did it all, but she played her part.

Shelley,

For some arcane reason, I just dug out my old 15 lb one and tried it on my Thursday league lanes. I had to keep it inside the 4th arrow. Briught it home and put it back.

There's an easy remedy for that.  Send it to me and I'll give it a good home.
