I need a few opinions here
« on: December 05, 2006, 01:51:30 PM »
Ok i got a reply on both a Buzz and a Absolute power NIB, And I need to know which you would think is better in the mid to light catagory, with possible carrydown present. I hear they are both for the mids to light oil, but i need to have some replys to see which one i want to choose. Thanks

for carry down i would go for the buzz i believe. mainly cause i think the abosolute power won't recover most of the time while the buzz if you drill it to go longer but still have a nice snap will. the buzz has been a favorite i've noticed with other bowlers as well as myself. At first i hated mine. it was way to squirrly. so i redrilled it and now i love it. gets around the bend real nice and gets back real nice. my aboslute power sort of rolls to the pocket while the buzz snaps to it. hope this helps.

I have both ... IMHO, the BUZZ is more for when the pattern "breaks down" a bit and you want to "open up the lanes"; that being said, it WILL skid on oil since it's a reactive pearl ... it NEEDS dry to "kick" off of. The AP is a underappreciated ball IMO ... depending upon the layout, what surface you have on it, and your style, this ball has the ability to handle a bit more oil than the BUZZ.
Hopefully Charlest will chime in here with his experiences and his opinions on this post ... his insights are invaluable !!!

Robb,

I'm afraid I'd have to disagree with you slightly here.

I'd have to say that the AP, in my experience, can handle a sh*tload of carrydown. And for a resin pearl, it doesn't need an awful lot of dry to make its turn. In fact, when it was the strongest ball I had in the bag one day and the house I was in pulled some stupid nonsense and oiled the crap out of the lanes, all I had to do was move from my 17/18 board target at the arrows to the 10 board, swing it to 5 and just crushed the pocket. They went from a medium-light oil to medium-heavy. The AP being a control ball that hooked evenly, with the drill I had on it (5" pin-PAP, pin under center of bridge), it had no problem at all. I didn't have to slow down or roll it end ove rend.

Charlest,
As I said ... your insights are invaluable; I guess that I understated, whereas you elaborated. Good input and insight from this roomie and his post.
