Title: Bad, bad news ....
Post by: charlest on December 15, 2011, 03:08:26 PM
From Mo Pinel on BowlingChat.net forum:

*** A Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Case has been  filed in the Bankruptcy Court of the Eastern District of California by  Lane Masters Bowling Inc. of Stockton, Calif. The debtor’s Attorney is  William R. Cumming, Costa Mesa, Calif. 90292. A meeting of creditors is  scheduled at 11 a.m. on Dec. 19 at the U.S. Trustees Meeting Room, Suite  2, 1st Floor, 1200 I St., in Modesto, Calif. The trustee is Irma C.  Edmonds, Pinedale, Calif., 559-221-2233.

A sad day for bowling when any manufacturer has to file for bankruptcy.

They are now ABC Lane Masters.  If everyone would buy their top quality bowling equipment instead of the mass produced cheaper balls on the market everyone would find out how much better their equipment is!!!!!!!!  This should not happed to an American made company. Everyone should try one of the balls and see the difference in quality !  They stand behind their equipment 100% .

Never tried any thing from them, but it is unfortunate. It is a tough industry to be in and not looking to be any better anytime soon. The Buzz/Sting series always interest me.

Not really "new" news, I think they filed back in November sometime.

Explanation of Chapter 7  if this is true and LM/L filed Chapter 7 I don't see how they can continue unless they start up again in another venue a Chapter 7 is dissolve everything to pay creditors.  Chapter 7 is not reorganization like a Chapter 11 is.  But until someone in the know comes forward it's all innuendo and rumor.

My driller tried to order thru LM/L a 14 Lb. Xtreme Damage 2 weeks ago and they had none nor would they say when any would be poured.  That is telling.

The point I am making is your pro shop may have gotten balls from past stock.  The question would be can you get something different say a 14 lb'er that is not in stock?  Something new that needs to be poured.  My driller said they did not offer a later date that a 14 lb. Xtreme Damage would be available.  I found a 14 lb. LM Buzz Attack (which I like a lot)on eBay to take the place of the XD.

Example in the past when VBP has not had a ball with the specs I wanted  when they/VBP were going to have a production run they would put it in their prodcution schedule and I would get the ball when it was run.

See the difference?

I hear locally(Stockton, CA) that Tony has some affiliation with Lord Fields, but I do not know what it is. Tony used to be on this site often, maybe he will come in and comment on it.

It's a shame that this has happened to LaneMasters. Fred Borden put a lot of time into this company and has put out quality products.

I hope that they are able to put it back together. I know trying to find their product in a proshop out here in CT is tough. I had a New Standard 2 when it first came out and it was a great ball. Unfortunately, the high cost of their equipment kept me from purchasing other balls in the line.

I tried 4 different  balls of theirs and none worked out for me. I am not saying they don't have good balls, only saying they didn't match up to my bowling style, no matter how they were drilled.

It's nice that these are the only balls you have. And, it is also nice that you have had no issues with any Lane Masters products you've been involved with. And, NOBODY is questioning how good the compny is, OR how good their equipment is.

Some are, however, questioning the future of the company. The have filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which means a total liquidation of assets and a disbursement of proceeds to creditors. If this happens, Lane Masters will indeed "go somewhere".

They may, perhaps, change the filing at a later date to a different form of bankruptcy, which WOULD allow for some type of restructuring and reorganization to happen. Perhaps a chapter 11?

Definately a sad day...  I think many of us saw this coming...  Until the last 3 or 4 years, they were making some of the best bowling equipment out there...  If you can still get your hands on the cleaner, I highly recommend it...  I just stocked up...  The best cleaner out there..

+1, including the "trademark stench". I hope that the company or its products will be around in the future, and that they (hopefully) find back to the quaility offerings they had and what truly set the brand apart from mainstream stuff: massive and technically simple balls, use of particle, durable coverstocks. Anything else is IMHO rubbish, and probably put them where they are now.

I just received a 14lb Buzz Premium Edition and have a NS2.0 on order. Lane Masters is still filling orders and making balls. I would like to thank Chad @ Buddies for all his help in getting this done for me. So guys, less negative and more positive. Still the best equipment in the game.

Thanks Lane Masters.

I am really sad that LM/L has filed bankruptcy. A great option for non-mass produced high quality equipment. I have found Visionary to have great equipment on a par with Lanemasters/Legends. Visionary has been around for quite a while and continues to put out high quality products. Another option to take a look at.

Same questions as always...  What makes them better?  If they were so good why didn't the best in the world rush out to use them?

Quality (in terms of 'how long they last') has nothing to do with ball reaction.

If that be true and there have been reports in the past that Tony Martin is with Lord Field and that Lord Field equipment looks much like LM/L equipment/cores and is from Korea.  I would think there is some correlation between Lord Field and LM/L?  What that is is total conjecture on my part but I think there is something to it.  Lord Field is PBA grassroots registered.

I ask that question, it isn't Lord Field. I think the name of the company is Genesis Bowling.

From what I was told last night, the new owners are Lord Field's biggest competitor in Korea.

It says they are imported and distributed by Genesis Bowling Korea!!! So does that mean they're not made in Stockton, CA?

Train a child up in the way they should go and when they are old they will do some "Damn Good Bowling", be a "DV8" and not turn from it, besides bowling starts with a Big B!

Bruce,

The Buzz video was made in April, 2011.  I do not believe that video was made in the US.  Genesis is a Korean company and they import LaneMasters balls into Korea. Lanemasters are still made in Stockton, CA, as far as I know.

It wouldn't  be the first time a distributor bought a manufacturer.

FYI It seems the www.genesisbowling.com domainname  is up for sale
