Looking for a Paradigm replacement...
« on: May 18, 2006, 12:35:48 PM »
Don't get me wrong, I might get another Paradigm also, it has been an incredible ball for me.  However, I joined one of those have a ball leagues, where I can pick a ball of my choice, and thought I would try a Legend ball.  I'm looking for a ball that would fit in my arsenal in place of my Paradigm should the need arise.

Currently, my arsenal is:
For Heavy
Trifecta
Passion

Medium
Paradigm
TPC Player

Light
Desert Heat
a Plastic

Normally, I'm a down and in, low rev bowler, medium speed bowler.

What would you recommend?  Would the World Standard be too close to the Trifecta and Passion?  I was thinking the Satisfaction might be closer to the desert heat, which is normally not a type of condition I see very often.  The Yeah Baby and NS2 seem to be heavy particle, which makes me think they'll be closer to the Trifecta and Passion.  I was thinking World Class, Big Kahuna, or World Stand.  The Paradigm is a light load I think, so a medium load seems like the closest match, but I could be way off base.  What do you guys think?

Not even close. The Satisfaxion is nowhere near that mild a ball. It is NOT for dryish lanes or light oil. It can be even reacting, but it needs oil in the heads and some in the midlane. It can handle medium-light oil and up to medium, depending on drilling and your ball speed/rev rate ratio.

The Yeah Baby is probably between the two; it is a heavy load, high flaring ball that MUST HAVE head and midlane oil. It will get more length and have mor eback end than either of those two Storm balls, IN GENERAL.

The NS2 is your basic maximum control ball; although it has a heavy load of particles; it is more for medium to almost medium heavy oil, depending, again, on hand and drilling.

DO you mean the New STandard?

Being that the Paradigm is a particle pearl (in reality), high mass bias ball, I think that either the Masterpiece or a lightly polished World Class might give you a similar ball reaction to the Paradigm. Those two balls will backend like the Paradigm; the WC may require more oil, but the light polish will help (I mean really "light"; it takes very little polish to add a good deal of length for most Legends balls.)

For whatever it's worth, the Big Kahuna is one of my favorite Legends balls right now. It gets good length on most medium oiled lanes and has a very strongly arc-ing backend that hits hard, for me. It's a light load particle with a small RG differential for less flare (thus, the good and easy length). It also has a strong backend, not quite the backend of the MP and the WC, but enough to splatter pins.

These are just a bunch of my opinions, and none of it guarantees your success with any of these balls. Don't be afraid to drill any of these strong, if you do have low revs and most of all don't be afraid to re-drill any one, if necessary. Good luck.

yep, I meant New Standard instead of world standard.  5 days in Vegas will fry the brain.  Thanks for the info, unfortunately, as we all know, it's tough to compare companies, and even more so with Lanemasters and Legends because, at least in my area, they are very rare.

I thought since the Desert Heat was a reactive, and has a very strong back end on light, it would compare with the Satisfaction, but obviously, I haven't seen anyone with it, or the World Class, Masterpiece, etc...  The only Legends/Lanemaster ball I have seen is the Yeah baby, and it was very condition specific for the particular bowler.
