I bowled the greater ozarks open this past weekend (Memorial day weekend). I bought the Black Pearl to hook in oil because I was going to use it at The Open when I go in June. The BP is OOB finish. I have it drilled stack leverage. Speed is 13-14mph. I play the track area. I moved way outside and also tried to play inside and I could not get the ball to hook. So I was thinking of going dull. My question is how dull do I need to go? On the house shot the ball was hooking good but that was a house shot. I'm going to practice on synth lanes before I go but not the correct oil pattern.

Unfortunately it is still highly polished and still a pearl. So those particles won't make a it handle true heavy oil. Depending on your "hand", you will need to roughen up the coverstock.

I took mine to about 1500 grit to handle what I regard as true medium-heavy oil. I would suggest you start with at least 2000 grit (abralon pads are good and easy to use); test its reaction, then take it to 1500 or 1000 grit for your next test. Anyone's guess would be just that at this point in time. You can go as low as 600 grit.If that doesn't work, you really need a true oiler, more in the nature of the World Class or a sanded Terminator.

I bowled first squad on both team and d/s. We bowled Saturday at 10 and Sunday at 9.
