Title: black peral or buzz
Post by: lsf_21 on December 24, 2006, 02:40:59 PM
im looking for a new ball for me. i throw the ball about 18 mph and like to play 3rd arrow out to about 10. ive never counted revs to have a clue how many i have but theres plenty there. im looking for a ball that when the pattern dries up i can still move further right and be able to still get it back with enough power to still get the 7 pin out. i currently own a new standard and a masterpiece. the masterpiece for me is just a straight up monster and needs alot of oil for me to get it out and which ever ball i buy is replaceing my new standard and the new standard will be left in the bag to be a ball for tough conditions that are a little drier b/c i still get a decent backend and it still hits hard.

LSF,
Based upon what you just stated in your post, I'd say The BUZZ !!!

LSF,
The Masterpiece and the Black Pearl are both much stronger than the Buzz; the MP has a strong cover, albeit a pearlized resin cover, and that core really likes to stand up early ... and the Black Pearl is strong too, even with that pearl cover because of the particle load, and the core (same as the NS and NS2) is strong rolling.
The BP is longer than the NS and with more backend reaction, while the BUZZ is great for when the oil pattern breaks down a bit and you want to "open" the lanes up.

but when the heads go unless you have the ball speed, ability to play really deep inside angles The Buzz is also to much ball from my experience for most folks.
YMMV.

Scott,
I'd tend to agree ... these balls all seem to really need "head" oil; the only ball that might not is the Straight Flush.

yea i thought about getting a straight flush but i dont wanna spend that much money on a 3 piece ball.the one forum said something about a ball comeing out between the striaght flush and the buzz... if thats true ill probobly get that. i have an arrow that when the pattern breaks down enough i can throw it over 2nd and it hits as hard as any other ball ive ever thrown

Similiar reaction shapes per the web site, for sure; but the covers (pearl resin vs particle pearl) and the cores are different ... I'm pretty sure that they would react different with the same specs and layout (if you play around with the inputs for the revs, ball speed, and oil volume a bit, you'll see the separation, I believe).

I just purchased a Big Bang R and was really considering the Black Pearl and Buzz.  The Big  Bang R, has a reactive pearl cover.  It glides through the lanes after they break down and really holds the line.  It does not overreact and the pins explode with impact.  Thus far, I'm very happy with it.

Good luck!

Nope ... the Big R Bang has a polished, solid reactive cover, NOT a pearl reactive cover, Elvis; see the web site for details:

LSF,
My experience with it so far has been that been that it's versatile ... up the track area and in on medium fresh patterns or swing it and open the lanes when the pattern "breaks down"; it's still relatively new to you, so experiment with different lines and releases on different patterns and oil volumes a bit more so as to gain confidence with it.
