Sting packaging
« on: October 06, 2007, 02:36:59 PM »
I just received a Conqueror, with the styrofoam packaging and all the usual amenities. I also just received a Sting, smaller box, no styrofoam, no polish/cleaner and no scotch brite pads. What is L/LM latest policy on shipped amenities? Just curious, I can live with it either way.

Only the Legends line will have the Surface Tuning kit with all the extras.  The Lanemasters balls, including the top-end balls like the Big-R-Bang and Buzz line will be in a standard box.  I believe some of the older Lanemasters balls (and not just the discontinued ones, either) may still be out there in some distributor's inventory that include the extras but new ones won't.  Their mid-range lines will also not include the extras.

I think this is the scenario -

When the initial Legends balls came out (New Standard, Yeah Baby, SatisfaXion), one of the differentiators for the Lanemasters balls (Kong, Absolute Power) was that they did not have the accessory package and came in the smaller boxes.

Right after that point, they started putting all the balls, Lm & L, into the big box with the accessory package.

Starting with the Hornet (and the Sting followed the Hornet, chronologically), they stopped the accessory package and the large box as a way of cutting back costs to the consumer. So the Hornet and the Stong should be lower in price (my Hornet was) tham the Legends balls and the previous Lanemasters balls, like the Terminator. Oddly, some internet sellers, like Buddies and Blockbuster Bowling, have kept the Hornet and the Sting at the same price level.

I think the Sure Strike and the newer balls from the mid-price line up will just come in the box. They are, of course, much cheaper.

Those boxes are rediculous. They don't fit into anything. We have our shop cabinets to fix the standard ball boxes and these are so goofy and oversized for nothing.

Just have people mail in for the extras or something. I have some customers with 5 bottles of that polish and surface pads.

If it's a problem for them, they can send the extras to me.
