dynamic power ? particle or resin
« on: December 31, 2008, 02:02:41 PM »
Is this release a particle or reactive there was a post some time back and if I remember correctly it was said that the ball was indeed a reactive but two different balls were listed one dynamic was reative and one was particle. Can some clarify the true identity of the Dynamic Power.

It was never a reactive resin. It was always particle.

Hi guys,
Thought I would clarify the Dynamic Power situation. There is only one version of the Dynamic Power, and it is a particle. In the 07-08 catalog, we had the word "particle" in the logo. But as you may have read, we did some more tweaks to the core to raise the differential since we first put the ball in that catalog. During the testing, the actual particle load was reduced. The load in this ball is the lightest we have put into any of our particle equipment. Just enough to give the traction in the oil we were after, while maintaining as strong of backend as possible. When the time came for the current catalog, the decision was made to removed "particle" from the logo. One reason being the lighter load, the other being from a sales standpoint. There was never any Dynamic Powers produced with the word particle engraved on them. It is just an older marketing picture being used. Hope I was able to clear the confusion for you all.

It is a marketing decision. For many players, "particle" will associate the ball with an early rolling, grabby oil piece. If that does not fit the balls basic characteristics or utility, and is no selling argument, omitting the term is IMHO no problem - esp. when the technical effect is negligible.

AFAIK, others have done this, too. If I remember correctly, Storm's Paradigm also had a very low particle load top enhance control on oily shots, but it was never marketed this way.

It's a particle coverstock, but the base is a solid reactive and they add the particle to it, LM uses carbon particles usually. Just my $.02, Bruce
