Love the ball, just can't find enough oil to use it on.
Ball is every bit as good (and strong) as the Hammer No Mercy.
I'm at 4000 grit w/ polish w/ a coat of Magic Shine.
I guess it will be staying on the bench for awhile.

4000 grit AND a coat of Legends Extended Length polish ONLY (or the equivalent) MAY do the trick for you ... just a thought.

I have the BP at 1000 grit, polished with Track Magic Shine.
I don't see a lot of oil in Chicagoland area centers I bowl in.
I use it in one practice house, which has medium oil, ball reacts well...but basically all balls react well, as the shot is stupid/easy.

I've been using the Big Kahuna, New Standard, NS2.

I will probably try the BP in my Sport Shot league again Monday. Will report on progress...

Big Kahna gave me the front 6 first game last week...Lost focus, and threw double splits, spare, spare = 221. BK is the first ball out of the bag now...followed by NS2...Haven't used New Standard much...few times I have I liked the look it gave me.

That's a fairly big change from your last reported: 4000 grit + polish.
(Legends factory finish polish is a rough equivlanet to Magic Shine, but I myself usually use Magic Shine or Brunswick's polish. Both seem somewhat easier to apply than Legends polish. Not sure why. All 3 are gritless.)

Not much oil here in NJ either, but many shots here are stupid hard due to neglect.

2 of my favorite Legends balls; NS and BK. Trying to wean myself off the NS; haven't used it in 4-5 weeks. One of my leagues screwed us over, yet again and flooded th elanes again. My Kong was barely moving. Just drilled up a BP and left it stock to see what happens during practice this week. Have to try it one day before league day.
That way I'll know if I need to change the surface before using it in league.
Will bring BP, NS and BK to compare them. BK and BP have identical drills; NS has high pin cause the darn thing is so freaking even reacting.

Stop using the BK. It's too much of a crutch. It'll give you 10 - 20 pins extra as far as I can see, if the oil pattern lets you use it ....

I left the BK at home tonight.

I took the BP down to 600 grit with a Green Scotchbrite (4 sides).
Put a coat of Magic Shine on it.

Used it in my Monday Night Sport Shot league at Beverly Lanes. Shot is notorious in the Chicagoland area for being brutal/frustrating.

Started 1st game: turkey, washout, 5 bagger, 5-7 split, spare 7 fill = 237.
2nd game: bucket, spare, double, 9 spare, X, 9 spare, turkey, 3-7-9, 9 out = 214.
3rd game: changed balls switched to NS2 (for 5 frames) went back ro BP ended the night with 155.

I carried everything, including 4-5 Brooklyns/Jersey squashers the first two games.

Ball was reacting well. I would tell you what area of the lane I was shooting, but I don't use the lane or pins for targeting, due to my limited vision. My targeting system is a work in progress...Kind of complicated.

I think the BP with this cover combination, earns a place back into my bag.

I'm having a Hammer No Mercy drilled up tomorrow...I can't wait to see the comparison between the BP and the NM.

I was surprises that the BP went as long as it did at 600 grit.

IMHO, with the grit that "low" you must have REALLY raised the particles on that cover ... and the polish gave it the "push" that it needed to get down the lanes. Thanx for following up !!!

Good scoring especially on a sport shot.

600 grit + Magic Shine is fairly agressive, depending on how much Magic Shine you put on.

I tried mine initially and got an over/under reaction on what I regard as a medium+ (long) oil on Anvillane synthetics, but it's only a first run in practice. From all reports here I expected a different reaction. When I got home, I used some Track Clean and Smooth to get a 1500 grit smooth surface; will try it again. I suspect I may have drilled it too mild or it may need some break-in.

Being a stronger and earlier ball, I suspect the No Mercy will have a more even reaction but I want to hear your results and comaprison.

Mine SEEMS to have gotten stronger as I've used it; here's my layout:

3 1/2" pin,3 3/4 x 3 3/4 layout, no WH, pin above & right of the ring,
cg 3/8" above the midline, OOB

Yours has a very strong drill. Mine is 4.5"x5", pin is in the ring finger, 2.5" above the midline. Pin-CG distance is 2 1/4". I'll experiment with surfaces, but suspect it needs a stronger drill. Experiment proceeds ...
Surface now roughly at 1500 grit smooth.

I believe that you are correct ... although you STILL may be able to get a better overall and stronger reaction with the proper combo of coverstock and a balance hole.
