Lookin' for a new ball
« on: March 18, 2009, 02:01:03 AM »
My Baby's holding up very nicely, I'm not looking to replace it outright.  I would like something to fit under it, though.  I talked to my driller last night after league and told him I'd like to stick with Lanemasters.  We looked at the Black Pearl Reactive, the Terminator Rebellion, and the Sure Strike.

I like the TR, it looks like it fits a little below the BPR and should give me more of a difference from my Baby.  What concerns me about the TR is that it looks an awful lot like the Big-R-Bang.  The cores look similar and both have the solid Evolution coverstock.  I had a Big-R-Bang and it just had too much length for my hand and ball speed.  I could open the lanes up nicely but really had to be careful with my ball speed.

I also looked at the Sure Strike but like the Big-R-Bang, I'm concerned that it's gonna be too weak for my hand and ball speed.  I haven't had a whole lotta luck with weaker equipment.

Has anyone thrown these balls together?  The BPR, TR, Sure Strike, and Big-R-Bang?  What would you L/LM folks recommend to fit under a polished Yeah Baby?

Also, he figured up some prices for me and the BPR, for all it's niceness, sure is pricey.  The TR was a little better.  He suggested that I might be able to save some money bringing him a ball, but it looks like there's precious few L/LM balls to be found online.  Anyone got a good source for any of those balls?

Got my SS from Warren300 yesterday and had it punched up last night.  I went with the same layout as my Yeah Baby, roughly a 5 x 3 1/2 with the pin even with the fingers and a weighthole about an inch inside my PAP.

I only threw it for 8 frames last night before I had to go home but had six strikes, one ten pin, two 4-9s, and something else I can't remember.  I started playing my normal 10 at the arrows to 6-7 and the breakpoint, but moved in about two or three boards with my feet every shot, playing more angle through the heads with each shot.

I'm not so naive as to be ga-ga over this ball just yet but I am very happy so far.  Can't wait for league tonight.

sounds like a "Lucky Strike", Shelley. Hope it works out. It's a good ball.
