why the AP2 isn't such a popular ball?

After reading the reviews it seems to be a let down for some bowlers..

Any thoughts?

Because It doesn't go 55 feet and make a left (or right) turn into the pocket?

Actually I think it was one ball too many. It was kind of caught in between their original oilers, the New Standard and the Yeah Baby and the new ones, the World Class and the Big Bang, at that time. It didn't do anything special except its job. PLUS back then Lanemasters wasn't as popular as it is now.

All things combined to allow it to hide in the corner, so to speak. The same story applied, I believe, to the Guaranteed.

I found the AP2 (box condition) too strong for the medium conditions I typically bowl.  I took the coverstock to 4000 abralon with Bean's Secret Sauce and now it is a great ball on medium conditions, and a perfect compliment to the Absolute Power when you need more bite.  The AP2 is smooth, very controlable, and a hard hitter like most Lanemaster balls.   AP2 is best described as control with power.
