More praise for the Hornet!!
« on: December 14, 2009, 02:00:12 PM »
Layout 4 1/2 pin in ring. Cg 3 3/4. WH in thumb quadrant. 2.5-3 away from thumb.

All I Can say is I am so impressed with this ball. I have finally found the dry lane ball I have been looking for. This ball allolws me to pipe it right up the right side and it reacts so smoothly while delivering amazing hitting power.

Tonight in league after struggling the first 2 games with 180, 178. I Knew the outside boards were getting rather dry because my Sideways was really going left in the 10 board later in game 2. Pulled it out for fill ball in game 2 right down 5 board,  a little high for 4,7,6. Start of third game moved to 10 board strait up, no belly. Front nine, all flush perfect strike, 10th frame pretty good ball only coming off my hand without as much hand as normal, ringing ten, then strike for 279.

What make this ball so special to me it that with the surface I have it at which is 1000 sandpaper, it reacts very much like urethan, no snap, just roll and it continues its roll all the way thru the pins. Think urethane roll, no snappy backend, with Lanemasters carry and power at the pins, you just can not beat that. This is not a get out and swing it ball, or atleast with my surface, have not ryed it polished, don''t need to. Have bowled on a much drier shot than 2nite and still could play strait up.

Any one with some hand wanting a amazing dry lane ball, you REALLY need to look at this ball, hands down winner from Lanemasters/Legends. (have not seen anyone with low revs use this ball, actually I am prolly the only one in my area with this ball)

i'm with ya on the hornet being a winner for drier conditions.

i've got my hornet drilled with the length pattern on it. has a nice controlled arc to the pocket.

nice solid piece from lanemasters....

It is a very good dry lane ball - probably the hardest reactive resin ball on the market 78-79 hardness - we are talking plastic hardness here

I've heard good things about the Hornet, I was pretty close to getting one a little while back. I decided to buy a medium strength ball with a weak drill instead. I should of went with the Hornet!

yes you should have, I have tried this medium pearl reactive thing with weaker drills, all they are are over under to me, everyone of them has been, or still to strong.

Pick up a Hornet drill it semi-strong and you will be disappointed you waited that long.

During the summer I'm the secretary of a senior traveling league. Last summer, the center we were scheduled in that week experienced a lane machine breakdown. The center manager told me about this when I arrived 45 minutes or so before practice. "Oh crap, I'm going to catch it from the bowlers tonight." But then again, this group of scratch bowlers is one of the classiest bunch I've been around. Before practice I announced what had happened and apologized to the bowlers on behalf of the center. The center also gave us the option of canceling bowling that night and coming back the week after the end of our schedule. We had a short meeting and everyone said, "Let's rumble." Most bowlers tried their shiny reactive stuff and it was hook early and roll out city. Some of the bowlers pulled out spare balls: polyester and rubber. Others went to suitcase releases. I pulled out my Hornet and rolled a 4-game 940 set with a 297 in the 4th game. (Rolled the final shot through what was left of the track and left a 2-4-5.) To this day, I don't know what I feel more proud of: The big game on tough conditions or the fact that not one bowler biotched that night.

For my money, the Hornet is one of the few, perhaps only truly unique ball on the market. There's nothing like it on dry conditions and scorched tracks. Plastic and shiny urethane will play but nothing retains energy through dry heads and mids and still recovers like the Hornet. You may not have the "opportunity" to use it often but when the lane surface demands something hard and shiny, this will be your weapon of choice.

My apology for the long post but a Hornet thread often gets me to thinking about that special night when a league rose above the norm and truly fought the good fight as a group of classic bowlers in every sense of the word.

Well said, and great shooting, especially on a condition like that. Can''t wait to get to pull it out when everyone else is hooking way to much with everything they got. I will be able to pull this out and stay comfortable.

It is truly the most unique ball on the market today. I almost got it back when it came out, and passed, I was so dumb in that decision.
