Layout for World Class
« on: September 02, 2006, 01:23:13 PM »
Alright guys, I've decided to pick up a World Class, need some help on a layout for those that have had some experiece with it.  I want the ball to give me a strong midlane read and a hard, but controlled move at the break. As for my stats, ball speed is around 16 mph off my hand, PAP is 5 over 1/4 up, I put around 300-350rpm on the ball. I am not sure of my axis tilt or rotation.

I have been unable to get a hold of Galen at the main office and am still waiting for his response to an email, so any suggestions you guys have would be well appreciated.

As far as I can tell that is its natural inclination. Both mine did/does that.

My rev rate is a little lower, but my PAP is similar.
I'd suggest 4x4 also, pin either in the ring finger hole or just above it, depending on your ball speed and axis tilt. Both are really needed to give an accurate drill. I would not suggest pin below the ring finger for this ball, even for medium-heavy oil (only for true heavy oil; but that's my feeling).

My ball speed is 16-17mph off the hand, forgot to put that in initial post.
-On edit-  How does one determine axis tilt?

See

to convert your track diameter to axis tilt.

and
To measure track diameter:

Charlest, upon further review and a quick measurement, my tilt is around 17-20 degrees.  Thanks for the links!

I looked at your profile you must have a damn good phyiscal game.
that being said I would go 4" pin and then it is up to you where you go with the cg.
the brunswick method is pretty good, just put the cg to give you about 3/4 oz. static side.
use the ball and see how you like it,if it is not flaring up enough you can then fine tune it with a balance hole.
with an rpm rate of 300 you probably will love the ball without the hole but it depends on the amount oil you bowl on.
your ball driller knows your game,we on the computer do not use him/her thats your best plan of attack.

Your ball speed and tilt don't seem to be out of the ordinary. A 4x4 with pin at the level of the ring finger seems reasonable to handle a true medium-heavy oil pattern for the WC.

FYI I think Galen is back by now. A call or email to him wouldn't be out of the question if only to corroborate what we suspect. Maybe it would be safer to get it "from the horse's mouth".

Thanks for the help guys, I shall give Galen a ring tomorrow for more layout help.  I called my driller today and ordered up the World Class, hopefully he can get a hold of one soon as I'm starting to get that new ball itch.
