I like cores similar to the core in that ball. Nice RG and Differential nos. for me also. They are closer to what works better for me than some of the numbers in other L/L balls.

then you might have liked the older Masterpiece than the newer World Class Reactive.

MP specs:
Low RG - 2.571
High RG - 2.622
RG DIfferential - .051
6-7" of flare potential

Oddly, the Black Pearl's coverstock, which is called, "Traction XLP" seems to be the Masterpiece's coverstock, which is called, "Traction", with particles added.

The Black Pearl's core seems to be the one from the New Standard and the New Standard 2.

Would you believe that I came sooooo close to buying the Masterpiece and not the WC Reactive. Galen suggested both the Masterpiece and WC Reactive for the conditions I wanted the ball for. Since the BTM gave the WC Reactive such a grand rating (guess I will never learn not to put too much into BTM) and it was new and the Masterpiece old, I chose the WC Reactive. I studied the Masterpiece for a long time and liked all I both saw and read about it before the WC Reactive came out. Wish now I maybe would have got the Masterpiece, but you know how it is with people in that they always want the latest model like people do with a car. The moral of this is that the latest isn't always the "bestest"

As you've implied, there's no guarantee that the MP would have worked for you. ALl you can do is check reviews, see if it can be seen locally and make your best guess.

All of us have had balls, to one degree or another that have not worked out. When the ball is expensive, it's more annoying.

SOmetimes, it's due to unknown causes. Can't tell you the number of times that I've just put a ball aside for months or even years and then found it very useful. More than ... many times!

I agree. I think Norm Duke always refers to things that have unknowns as  a "Crap Shoot"....lol
