I just picked-up this ball new, it is #228 out of 500, I remember a few years ago, this ball was selling for big money on Ebay, I wanted a thick shell Particle ball which by any reviews of this ball say that it was the best of the best for Heavy oil, but on the other side, it is a very Rare ball, I am in a stall pattern right now, on 1 hand, I'd love to drill & use it, on another, because it is so rare and stamped Limited Edition 228 of 500, do I place it on display or sell it? It's a 14.3, 2-3 Pin.

BJbowling has a 14.5 Conquerer  for sale on Ebay, the # is 481 out of 500, it has a Red Pin, mine is a Yellow Pin, is there any difference between these 2 balls?

Did you buy it from bigbandito? I think he bought it from a Craigslist ad I found and posted, but I never confirmed that.

Really hard to estimate what it's worth. Most bowlers probably won't be interested but find the right Lane Masters fan and you could clean up.

Last night I slept on it and remembered my Favorite ball was the Slate Blue Particle Quantum, I recalled the drilling I had and the confidence I had with it and decided, what the hell, 80% drill it wins so I'm going to go ahead and punch the Conquerer and enjoy it, thanks for the reply, you solidified my decision.

It was an OK ball, but nothing special. And it wasn't that great of a heavy oil ball in my opinion.

There was one that went for big bucks on ebay though. Galen Gentry sold one for around $1000 if I remember correctly. But that ball was #1 of 500.

Later today, I took my Conquerer to the pro shop, laid it out and asked just for the heck of it, weigh it out since Bigbandito didn't send it with it's box and guess what the actual weight of this ball is, 13.16! I was to say the least heart broken. So on Ebay it goes, I hope Bigbandito get's his scale fixed that said this ball was 14.3.

Is 13.16 equal 14?

Joe, I suspect it's 13.16 lbs. ".16" is 16/100 of pound, or 2.56 ounces.
If it were 13 lbs. 16 oz, I think he would have kep it.

The Limited Edition run of the "Conquerers" (I owned 3 of them) pale in comparison in oil handling ability compared to the modern day Terminator Juggernaut.

There was 500 of each made in weights: 14, 15, 16 for a total of 1500 so there would be 3 #228 available.

The fact that they made identical numbers for three different weights, clears up the mystery.
Thank You

Being a former employee of Lane Masters at the time these were made, I would like to clear up a few things about the Conquerer.

First thing, is if there were identical number, which I saw happen on a few occasions, it was because when production ended one day and they started the next, sometimes they would forget to "advance" the serial number in the engraving machine, thus creating the duplicate number. The weight is irrelevant to this, as the balls were not done by batches of weight. being that the numbers and serial numbers were always changed manually, it is even possible for the balls in question to have the same Limited edition number, but different ball serial numbers.

Next, is the fact that there were not even 500 made. That was the round number to market, but in reality the cores were leftovers from a bad batch of AP2's that cured too hard. The number of cores and/or weights available was completely random. I believe the actual number was around the 425 - 450 range. This also explains why there was a high amount of 14lb and 16lb balls, compared to 15 lbers. It was simply because the cores weren't "produced" to be a new run of balls.

To salvage the materials of these balls, we had the idea to cut them down to an inner core size, and reshell them. Look inside and you will see AP2 blue as the "filler" color. This made the filler actual urethane (not the traditional filler material) and of a harder durometer than the outside cover.

Oh, and the total number of all weights combined was meant to be the 500. Not 500 of each weight as has been speculated.
