omfg! again!
« on: October 05, 2008, 10:58:51 AM »
this is getting preposterous!

back to back solid 8 with BP reactive both shots solid on the pocket
--------------------
When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

i dont think its just this ball or any LM's for that matter. why? because this is happening to me and a friend throwing two different companies.

him a roto grip epic polished

me a visionary gladiator solid

two different lines, two different companies, two different bowlers.

we are both what i would call power strokers yet hes always leaving solid 9's and im always leaving 7s and 8's, and 9's. I think it just happens when you are coming in with too much angle especially if its 9's that you are leaving.

just the nature of these new reactive balls on a ths. ive been working on using less rotation for just this reason and it works

Icewall,

Stoned 8s, for a righthander, are completely different from 7s, 9s, or 10s. They're a combination of the power of the ball and bad luck in the way the head pin spins off the 2 pin.
7s, 9s, and 10s are all different and less well thrown balls. Many can be just bad luck, but are not the perfect hit that 8 pins (or 9 pins for left handers)are.

MO_BOY,

If you have to worry about a 4 pin or 7 pin, the ball wasn't a pocket hit, was it? Just hitting the 1 pin and the 3 pin at the same time is not really a "pocket" hit.

APheLion,

Maybe a slight (and I do mean "slight") scuffing of the cover with a grey nylon pad will help the ball have a mild, controlled burn off of some energy in the midlane in order to help control/reduce the hitting power of this ball. You've got to be VERY careful not to ake off too much polish or it will burn up entirely. There is a risk that I'm not sure you're willing to take, but it is an option.

I love the way Lanemasters balls seem to reduce the number of splits I leave, but sometimes, their hitting power is actually too much. In fact, I've learned I have to modify my normal drillings PLUS modify the cover too often with them. It can be an exasperating experience, getting their cover & drilling just right.

charlest, any idea of what grit the BPr is oob? cuz its been about 20 games and i think i need to put some surface and some polish on the ball but still undecided on what to go on it.

something that i dont understand is why they say this ball is for med-heavy oil
on my house usually with lots of carry down from open play, this ball skids a lot, on fresh oil (with no clean backends) only the sandpapers moves

The web site says "Factory Polsihed". I assume it's the standard: sanded to 800 grit and than a heavy dose of Lanemasters Factory Finish Polish.

Wellllll,
It depends on your hand, the drilling, you release specs(tilt, rotation, ball speed, etc). As far as I can see from the professional tests (BTM and BJI), this ball is very strong off the break point, but it is also "ONLY" a resin pearl. (True, it is a Lanemasters resin pearl. See the Masterpiece as a reference for an incredible strong resin pearl.) So I'd say it was for medium to just short of medium-heavy oil for the TRUE average revs (~300 rpms, classic tweener) and average ball speed bowler.

I don't know who told you it's for medium-heavy. I think you need less than avg speed with avg revs or greater or be a cranker to have this ball handle medium-heavy oil.

If you have "lots of carrydown", a resin pearl is not the ball to conquer it. Its parent, the Black Pearl Particle, or even the Terminator, is the one for that job.
