as on the title, omfg! i dont know what else to say!
on league in 2 different occasions:
1: left lane strike, right strike, left solid 8, right strike, left solid 9
2: same as above but on the reverse order
1 lane, same shot and solid 8s and 9s
i think no matter how strong mental game i have, i cant tolerate this kind of breaks!
i was pissed as hell, after that my game just went downhills, lost like 50 bucks

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment
When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

Sometimes a ball, as drilled, is just too strong for the condition on which we want to use it. With the ease of 20/20 hindsight, I think what you might have tried was to move you feet about 1/2 - 1 board deeper and "let the ball do more of the work". A friend, with a very high average and very high degree of adaptability, gave me that phrase recently. It requires a high level of belief in your own consistency and in the ball's power. I think it would have been a viable option in this case.
Recently I've been trying to force another Lanemasters ball to work (I know now that I drilled it too strongly.) mostly because of its power. In a few leagues situations I went high many times trying to adjust and EVERY time that ball broke up every possible split. While I continued working with the ball, although it was not ideal for the conditions, I could not resist taking advantage of that power.

well my xspower is drilled weak, pin 1 1/2 above fingers about 5 inch from axis, cg on palm.
its mainly to read the lanes. if it keeps giving me those breaks i'll have to do something with the coverstock.

"weak" is a relative term. I'm not sure that is "weak".
What that means to me is you're forcing the ball to snap more, by putting the pin up that high. You want lots of backend and power at the breakpoint. Well, you've got it, but you've got to also live with the side effects: potentially lots of washouts, 2/8/10 or if you're close to the pocket - lots of 9 pins (from a right hander's point of view).
May I suggest taking some of the sheen or shine off the ball to get it to read the midlane slightly earlier and smoothing out the breakpoint??
if you have lot so "hand", next time you might consider putting the pin only 3/4" above the finger holes.

I get the picture. LM/L balls are fairly strong in their breakpoints but the XSP is NOT supposed to be. Maybe the pattern is too short and the backends too dry or too "clean" for this ball AND this drilling AND your release???
Is there room for a weight hole to make the ball flare slightly earlier to get a better, earlier read? This is a possibility, although I'd try some surface first before a weight hole.
Good luck.

I have this ball at 1k no polish, now it is smooth mover alot like a Heist or Tsumani in ball motion. Oob it was not close to being the reliable ball it has become.
It is a true benchmark ball now, any of three pretty much do the same things. They keep you out of trouble and grind out 200-210 a game with some corner leaves and back rows pins.

charlest: with the help of the driller, we decided to have this ball and predictable, not too strong off the dry, i even ask him to put a xhole on the axis to smooth things out.
now with that said, when those situations happened, i had a very smooth release, not hand at all, one occasion was down the boards at 12, the other one i was playing near the gutter, on both situations the ball came in at a very nice angle and well sh!t happens.
btw, never mentioned the condition, short and light house shot, about 34 ft long normally with carry down cuz of open play.

Interesting.
Ah! I was right about the oil pattern. I suspected that because of the nature of that ball. Well, good luck in the future with it.

Higher pin placements also have a tendency to read the drier backend stronger, which gives more of a skid/snap reaction. Where a lower pin will read the midlane sooner, but not read the backend as severe, more of a strong arc. Even with the XS Power being a solid reactive cover, it can still have a very strong move at the break. Good luck and as Charlest has said about coverstock changes may help. With the shorter oil pattern you really don't want the ball to read the lanes too late. Just my $.02, Bruce
