Fantastic ball with a stupid name. It was a heavy particle load, two piece ball that could handle oil well.

Be careful with those older(pre-2009) Lane Masters/Legends as they tend to shrink in diameter, so check the size before you purchase one. Also, some of those balls have a cover that can become brittle and you will get flakes/chunks of material coming off the cover.

Don,

Thank you. How well does it handle oil?

Milo,

Thank you. This is a NIB I came across on ebay. I really wanted to try one of these with the diamond particles :)

I would consider it a medium-heavy oil ball. Pretty heavy roll. Great symmetrical, control ball Does not lane shine easily. I use a green scotch brute pad only occasionally.

Mine has had a small surface crack for years.

I Love it!!!

I thought it was a great ball.
For Speed dominant players, it handled medium oil.
For rev dominant, it handled medium-heavy to heavy oil.
It had a heavy load of diamond particles; it came with a sheen finish. For Lanemasters then, that meant they put a high gloss polish on it and handrubbed it with a Scotch-Brite light grey pad (800 grit ANSI, 1600 grit FEPA), just to haze or remove the gloss appearance, leaving  a matte finish.

As per normal, the duller you made the surface, the earlier it would hook and the more oil it would handle. If you polished it, it would handle less oil, going longer, but the diamond particles provided a strong turn at the backend.

RG min was 2.57, RG Max was 2.62, giving a .050" RG differential.
This made the heavy load of particles easier to get down the lane.

The diamond particles were sanded with diamond abrasive pads at the factory to 800 grit. Unless you had diamond pads, you could not change the diamonds' grit level, but you could change the resin in which they were embedded. The best abrasive pad to modify it was 3M's Trizact pads.

Carlest,

I see why you say med-heavy. This is a strong ball!!!! I polished mine and you were not kidding about the move on the backend:) My home house is typically slight OB on the Men's league, cant wait to try this when we start back in January :) I was bowling this morning on the youth lanes and if I leaked it out to the 5 board or farther it would cross over. Drilled it 50 x 4x 35 or 4x3. I like what I see so far :) Thank you all
