Picked up my World Class
« on: September 09, 2006, 10:54:40 AM »
Well, after finally getting a hold of Galen at the end of last week, we decided to lay out my World Class 4x3.5 and perhaps add a weighthole if needed.  I picked it up from the shop this afternoon to find that the ball is legal on the sideweight, but not by much, so a weighthole may be added later.  boards for me like my other stuff, but it will work wonders when I get to heavier patterns and need to square up a bit.  When I got the ball out into the dry too quick, it checked up hard and rolled out, but when I hit my spots the ball produced a nice, very continuous arc.  I'll be able to get some

I got to throw a few shots on a worn down house shot, and the ball so far looks to be exactly what I wanted it for.  This ball is not going to cover practice in tomorrow morning after bowling on fresh conditions and give another update and put up a pic when I find my camera.

I assume, on a "worn down house shot", you mean the World Class Reactive, not the World Class. Or do you have enough ball speed to make the particle work on a "worn down house shot"??

Ok, I see Dan did get the particle. Wait while I clean the egg from my face ...

Charlest, I do mean the original World Class.  The shot I was using it on forced me to get inside around 4th arrow to get anywhere near the pocket, the problem came with the reaction as the ball arcs more than it snaps, making it difficult to carry inside.  I'll hopefully get a chance to throw this ball on more oil tomorrow morning to get a better feel for the reaction.  It can be difficult to judge a ball after only throwing a game or so with the ball.

Yes I understand your reaction, I bought 2 of them. I think the Big Bang is similar enough to the WC but has slightly more length and backend, but not a huge difference, from what I understand.

When I polished mine for less oil, it still didn't do more than get more length and still arc at the backend. It's just an arc-y control ball for heavier oils.

FWIW, After the fact, the Yeah Baby! lets me get pretty deep. I tried 4th arrow, but not 5th arrow. The older YB plays strictly 2nd fiddle these days.

I was able to get 6 more games in this morning on a fresh house shot and I like what I see.  This ball forced me to play tight and keep it in the oil as it liked to check up when I pitched it outside too fast.  The ball still produces a very strong arcing motion, whereas my Formula almost snaps for a particle ball.  I compared this ball side to side with my Formula (layout pic in profile) and the WC was earlier and much smoother off the break than the Forumla.  I was able to score with both balls playing a small swing (15 to 10) but the difference came when I moved further inside.  When I played that same small swing in the oil (20 to 15) the WC never failed to make the turn but the Formula was a tad squirty.

I now understand what you guys mean when you say that these balls hit hard.  There is a definite difference in the sound at the pins between my WC and other stuff I threw today.  The carry was also outstanding as there were a handful of shots that I didn't throw real well but the ball sent the pins flying everywhere.

Here is a pic of the ball: http://www.bowlingkingdom.com/persimages/userupload/worldclass1.JPG

Very nice looking version you got, Dan.

There is absolutely no ball that makes the sound and makes pins move when you hit solid in the pocket like the Legends balls do. NOT a single other brand. Yes, I understand when you hit the pocket, it makes no difference what ball you use. But when you look closely, no other brand makes them move this much nor does any other brand make that sound. I have thrown every other brand and while I love AND APPRECIATE many other bowling balls, none do this.
