Why have the other companies gotten away from using particle and particle pearl equipment? I just picked up the LM Perfect and realized what I was missing in my bag. On certain conditions you just cant beat the strong smooth reaction of a good particle pearl. Granted the solids, pearls and hybrids have their place but I definitely see a higher carry percentage with Particle pearl. I am glad I found LM/LF and will be purchasing a few more of these gems. :)

Most manufacturers are very secretive everything is proprietary so you really don't know what you as a consumer are buying these days that would include LM/LF.
It would be as the same as saying golf shafts have an industry standard for flex. :'(

The term particle turns a lot of people off, but manufacturers still put a small particle load in some balls. My Network rolls like a particle pearl, so maybe there's a LIGHT load. Who knows?

Ever heard the term NANO?

I prefer the particle pearls/balls with additives as I think they are the ball of choice for carrydown or when trying to conquer a pattern where your opponents and even teammates are using primarily plastic that pushes the oil downlane quicker.

Then you have to agree than the Perfect is not such a ball.
Its particle are "SKID" particle that do not ADD to the grab but to the skid, just like mica particles create pearlized reactions. It does not have the "grab" particle like the original poster asked about his Roto-Grip RSP ball. The "grab" particles are the ones in the Terminator Juggernaut, NOT like the one in the Perfect.
C'mon, Fess up!! Tell it like it is.

Charlest,
Not to disagree , but for me the Perfect rolls more like a particle pearl than a true pearl. It is smoother and stronger than any of the true pearls I currently have: IE Nomad pearl, Bandit and Silver streak SE, or shatter. Plus out of the 4 higher average bowlers on our pair I had the best look and most area to the pocket with the Perfect. Just my 2 cents worth ;)

And mine rolls like a very nice resin pearl, exactly as Pat described, good for light to medium-light oil.
I'm glad you like yours and hope you get good use from it. If you're happy, then I can't say a thing against the ball and I won't. I like mine, just in a different way.

Pat,
Which balls in the LF/LM line are you referring to as "particle pearls with additives " ?
Thank you
Todd

Particles and particle pearls have their place. On fresh conditions, they roll tremendous. Balls like the Defiant, and Edge, Nanos, all roll well even somewhat as you chase oil in. However, the issue with particles is the more you move in the worse the shape gets. This is when you need the straight pearls and reactive to create more of a down lane shape to kick out the corners. I haven't seen a lot from the LF/LM brand that can corner. The Big Hurt and Big Bang SE are nice for the fresh. But they are slowly making strides to contend. They just have to get better at the mid price point. Hard to contend when everything is a HP Particle release.
