Buzz Premium Edition coverstock question
« on: August 08, 2014, 09:13:46 PM »
I recently came into possession of a BPE (Buzz Premium Edition).

Everything I can find NOW, seems to say it is a solid/pearl resin hybrid. But my memory indicates it was a solid/pearl particle hybrid coverstock. I was interested in it when it came out but never got around to actually buying one and confirm with LaneMasters at the time what the coverstock was.

Does anyone know for sure if it was plain resin coverstock or a particle coverstock?

Just curious. It is what it is, but my poor brain says I gotta know.

It's a light load particle solid & pearl hybrid. It's similar to the Sting Widow Maker's coverstock (medium load solid & pearl hybrid) but with a lighter particle load.

Here's from BTM's review 11/2011

Coverstock
Name: Venom Hybrid
Type: Hybrid Reactive (particle )
Box Finish: 1200 Sheen
Color: Light Blue Pearl

Core
Density: Dual
Symmetrical

RG:2.549
Diff:.031

Comments: The Buzz Premium Edition is the second of two Lane Masters releases we reviewed this month.
This ball uses a coverstock called Venom Hybrid. This coverstock is part solid and part pearl. At the 1200 sheen
finish, all testers had their best reactions on the medium test pattern.

I bought one when they came out. Even though advertised at 1200 sheen mine was highly polished.

I bought one when they came out. Even though advertised at 1200 sheen mine was highly polished.

Lm used Scotch-Brite pads to put that sheen on polished balls. The 1200 grit pad was a white one which uses talc as the abrasive. Talc hardly affects a ball at all; the resin is much harder than the abrasive; so small wonder it still looked polished out of the box.
