wait for terminator revolution
« on: August 19, 2007, 05:51:39 AM »
I have decided to try some lanemaster bowling equipment. I try to keep the number of bowling balls I take to tournaments to 4 or 5(the 5th being a spareball). I do not like my stuff to overlap much. I can change speed and release enough to make a ball do more than one thing. Right now I an throwing an Infinite One which I can dull down for oil, and a Golden Nugget which I can shine for dry. I want two new bowling balls, one to use as  a first ball out of bag type ball and another for somewhat dryer than normal lane conditions. For ball two I an thinking Hornet Or the Buzz. For the benchmark I was thinking the Sting or a Buzz drilled agressive, OR should I wait for the Terminator Revolution to fill that slot. On the Lanemaster website it sounds like that is what it is made for. Thanks for your opinions.

Don't you mean the Terminator Rebellion?

What is odd is that if you listen to Ron hatfield on the Lane Masters site he calls it the Terminator Unload

I heard that; must have been the original name. Almost as bad a name as "No Mercy Beat'n"!

They show a Terminator Reload as an International release.  As charlest said, maybe the Unload was the original name they were going with.

As for a benchmark ball, imo, the Sting is too strong of a ball.  The Buzz could fill that position, as I also think the Hornet would be too weak for a benchmark ball.  Without knowing what the Rebellion will do, it's kind of hard to predict if that would be a good benchmark.  You could have the 3 balls in the Insect line (Sting, Buzz and Hornet), add a Terminator or a Conqueror above them and you would have a 4 ball arsenal that would cover most of the shots you would come across.

My 2 cents is that Lanemasters does not truly have a "benchmark" ball perse, since they discontinued the Absolute Power. It could handle medium oil (for me anyway). No other Lm/L ball, without surface and drill mods, can handle true medium oil with an arc-ing ball path for the average bowler, allowing one to properly gauge the need or requirement for the proper ball for that oil pattern/lane surface combination.

The proper ball would be a combination of the Buzz, the Sting, the World Class Reactive, the Masterpiece, the Satisfaxion, and the Big Kahuna, in my opinion. It's almost always a lightly polished medium rg, medium flare solid resin. In Lanemasters case, it could very well be a particle solid: a combo of the Kong and the Sting.
