First Strike is a "compound core" reactive pearl and the Sting is a high sheen, light-load, solid particle with the same low flare core as the BUZZ and Hornet. The Sting was designed for medium conditions and is due for release 16 July ... the First Strike is intended to match up with and to replace the Masterpiece.

Since I don't know, I'm gonna ask:  Is the First Strike going to be a thin coverstock w/filler, or still be true to LM's resin to the core?
The Gathering 2014 is near.  July 25-27 in Winston Salem, NC @ Creekside lanes.

Yes and the goodies i am sure are a thing of the past with the mid priced balls also, my hornet is just a box and the ball.

Good ball but to survive you gotta do what you gotta do, argue if you wish but when i keep hearing the same rumors about them even staying in business and one well known female rep on the west coast was not paid commission's for months i tend to think it is true rumors.

For what it is worth, my local Pro-Shop Driller Mike Miller at Ten Pins and More in Rio Rancho, NM just switched from being a STORM VIP Shop to a LEGENDS/LANEMASTERS "Pro Performance Member"(he is now listed on their website under pro-shops).  Mike has been with STORM for what seems forever, I doubt Mike would "sign or switch to" a company that was having financial difficulties and was not planning on being around for the long-haul.  For Mike to switch from STORM to LEGENDS/LANEMASTERS in an area that is ruled by STORM, proves he believes that the LEGENDS/LANEMASTERS brand is far more superior and would have not made the jump if he truly did not believe in the product.  I am glad he switched and just did not settle on a one brand dominance(bold move on his part, financially speaking), it sure got me thinking of how long I could have been throwing this great product had he and I had known.  By the way, He drilled my 1st LEGENDS/LANEMASTERS ball in the "Black Pearl" last month and it is absolutely amazing. Actually, I am going by his shop this afternoon to have the "Big Bang" and maybe something else drilled up.

Yeah,

I actually retired from bowling after the previous owners drove tons of people away, including myself in 1998.  Fortunately, in 2000 the Santa Ana Tribe opened a Casino/Bowling Center less than 3 miles from my house.

And the rest is history........................

Thanks for the info!

I am going to the ProShop today to get a ball for Medium-heavy conditions. I originally was leaning towards a Special Agent, but the Pro (a touring pro) told me that his experience with that ball was that it lost it's hook very quickly.  So now I've turned my attention to either an Action Max (Columbia), a Horizon Solid (Roto) or one of the following L/LM -Yeah Baby, Black Pearl or World Class Particle.  I want a ball that will be agressive in oil but will not skid/snap.  I have a Masterpiece that I have drilled to go long and I keep it polished, so I use it for medium-dry conditions.  I have seen Charlest post previously that the YB reacts similarly to the Masterpiece, but much stronger, so I am leaning towards the YB.  Any thoughts?

Then the YB or WCP would serve you better IMHO; BTW ... a New Standard or Big Kahuna will fill that bill too (if you can locate one since they are now out of production/discontinued.

OH ... and I have one of each of those NIB after finding good deals on them after finding out that they were going to be discontinued; LMK if you'd be interested in one of them ... I'd be willing to part with one of them for the right price.

Robb, Thanks for the input and the offer, I will know more after I visit the pro shop later today.  I just finished reading the reviews on the NS, very interesting!
Carl, thanks for the input - I'm visiting the pro shop with an open mind.  I want to get the ball that will knock the most pins down for me!

Let me ask one more question if I may.  The Pro that sold me and drilled my Masterpiece also has a used Kong sitting in his shop.  On the L/LM website, the Kong has a higher hook rating than the BK, NS and the YB.  But from what I understand, it does not handle as much oil as they do.  I see that it has a low Rg diff, but so does the BK.  Track flare is the same as the BK, much less than the NS or YB. Can anyone shed some light on why the Kong may not be a good oil ball?

I know as much about the real financial sitaution as Mike Miller does which is pretty much nothing, but i keep hearing about they are trying to outsource production to make balls with filler, cover and the core. That they can make about 250-300 balls a day with there current setup and the labor and the giant box is eating them up with extra shipping fees.

Hence they lose the free goodies and use a smaller box on the mid line products to cut down on some costs. When i keep hearing about how the reps for this company do not get paid commmision in a timely fashion and they have guys selling out of there trunks in the las vegas area it makes me wonder.

I could go find a guy that i will not name that sells the newer stuff for 100 that bowls out of the Sun Coast and sells older stuff for 75 a ball. A few local shops have even complained directly to Legends about this deal and this person still is able to keep his little side business going. Come on how are you supporting your local shop's with back door crap like this going down???

Just my opinion which i will always state on here even if i get haters, btw i like Storm products and have had my say on them in the past on here also. Mike Miller seems like a very nice guy and i agree the balls are top notch but he is just hurting himself to limit what brands he sells. To each there own whether it is good or bad and btw i have no beef with you Mr. Patterson so do not take it that way
