world class on closeout
« on: September 01, 2007, 01:06:20 PM »
my ex bowls with me and right now she bowls wit THE ONE. dont know her stats but she likes going down 10 to 5 on a not so typical house shot. she wants to start giving the ball more room but she just doesnt have the revs to do so. what i was thinking was a more earlier and arcy ball to help her read the lanes instead of a sharp break bc she cant read lanes at all (relies on me and she dont listen). last night at work i saw some closeout specials on l/lm stuff and noticed the world class for about $99 i believe, but forgot what site it was on. i have searched today but couldnt locate it. has anyone seen these for that low price and where, also any ideas for other balls, oh yeah she likes pretty balls which is why she has the one. i was thinking of the RAID but i dont care for ebonites covers issues.

One potential problem with the World Class is that it not only REQUIRES a good deal of oil, but also it requires some ball speed. It is one of the earliest rolling/lane grabbing balls.

If your "ex" does not have at least average ballspeed and if there is not a good deal of oil on your lanes, then I'd consider another ball OR be prepared to add some polish to it.

FYI Its "sister" ball, the Big Bang, is also on closeout and it, while also being an oiler, was designed to get slightly more length and thus slightly more backend than the World Class. However, being strong oilers, it too may also need some polish.

CheapBowlingBAlls has the World Class for $96 -

I no longer see the BB on their website; they have sold it out already.

They also have the New Standard for $95. WHile as much of an oiler as the BB and trhe WC, it is still a VERY arc-y ball, still a particle ball and still my favorite Legends ball and one of my favorite balls of all time. There's a chance it may not need polish for your "ex" to use it well.

It is also a beautiful looking ball, to my eyes, especially with a touch of polish.

Good luck.

thank you, she has decent speed for a girl, atleast more than the other women on league. the only prob she has is her rev rate is low so when she combats the over/under her ball kinda dies out at the headpin if she moves in and throws out. obviously its opposite if she moves a little out it creeps high. thats why i am looking for a more arcy type ball. if you have any other ideas i am interested, preferably outside l/lm bc its too expensive for her. i just thought of these when i saw the wc on closeout

Blast zone or Rival would both be plenty of ball for her and our midlines in price.

Given this new info, I'd suggest benchmark lightly polished balls for medium to medium-heavy oil, like
Track Temper, Heat Blast
AMF Heist
Brunswick Absolute Inferno and Ambush
AMF Radar
Dyno-Thane NE10
MoRich Awesome Finish
Columbia Big SHot
Legends New Standard and New Standard 2 (might need light polish)
Roto-Grop Horizon Solid (might need some polish)
