I agree with everything bowlingnut07 said this is what I seen as well, ball holds the line or hooks the lane , this ball is that good!!

It is a terrific ball! each piece just keeps getting better and better. This ball hits exceptionally well with amazing carry. It is very versatile and has a great color scheme to it as well.

Ball goes long and makes a nice skid-flipish move on the back and maintains tons of energy at the deck. Mine is drilled 55x5x55.

Not yet but looking to get on Lord Field Staff I have been on the fence for a while until I got ready to bowl more and have more time and that is what I have know. So LF looks like great equipment seen a couple of people throw this equipment and looks great and hits like a truck. Just waiting for tony to get back with me look forward to hopefully being a part of great team and family. This ball looks to be very versatile

Actaully you could just watch the video and judge for yourself. Kyle even went as far as not writing a review but just posting the video and leaving it to the viewer to make their assessment of the Bad News. I understand that it is easier to be negative but I believe "anyone" could view Kyle's video and "unerstand" the ball motion and make a decision for themselves.

Nice video, but there are a dozen or so balls that can give you the same motion and shape.Us non-staffers would like to know it's pluses and minuses, honestly. That is rarely given by almost all staffers. It's the usual"Great ball, first one out of my bag "comment .I think most people(bowlers) want to know what it does and more importantly what it won't do !!
But, nice video !

Then that's perfect you were able to benefit from the video even better than a written review. That is exactly  the necessary take home someone needs to make an educated decision.
1. Do you have a ball in your arsenal (one of the dozen(?) With that motion) that you are looking to replace?
2. Do you need that motion from a ball ?
3. Do you have a void in your current arsenal that the Bad News or one of those dozens with that motion can fill?
Isn't that what most are looking for? Seeing is believing and for most more beneficial than reading...

Are you saying that staffers shouldn't bother writing reviews about their equipment? Because they would be too "basis"?

You normally see reviews written by staffers for a couple of reasons. The main reason, is that at first, the majority of people that have a new ball are staffers. That holds true for every company. Especially with larger companies, because they send out free test balls to staffers before the release date. Also, its tough for staffers to give comparisons sometimes because they either don't throw, or aren't allowed to throw, equipment from other companies.

I guess it's up to you to decide if the person writing the review genuinely likes the ball, or really hates it... but is only writing a good review because they are on staff. Personally, I try to stick with what the ball actually does, how it compares to others, and then I try to list who may benefit most from the ball or on what conditions folks might like the ball best.

Just because you might have to take a grain of salt with a staffer review, doesn't mean its still not honest. Of course its easier to dismiss the short reviews that just say "greatest ball ever"... but read a few, look for the common threads, watch the videos, and then decide for yourself. If you're looking for a staffer to make the decisions for you, then you'll end up buying whatever company that staffer works with, regardless of the company.

Not too many people are going to take the time to write a good, detailed review of a ball with no vested interest in the ball and/or company. But, if it helps you out any, the few reviews that I HAVE read from independent bowlers (including Bowlers Journal International), have said pretty much the same thing the staffers are saying (minus the "greatest ball ever" part). So I guess my parting advice to you would be to only listen to the play by play, and ignore the color commentary.

Besides, on this site, are you looking at the reviews section, or just the forums?

All ball staffers say the same thing about their balls.I totally understand that you guys are being loyal to the ball company and to "Each other".Having each other's back so to say,I get that. What I was only saying is, it would be nice if non staffers would do more reviews rather than 6 lord field staffers saying this ball is the first one out of my bag and you can't go wrong with "This Ball".Ballreviewscanada is one such place that I send most people to to see how balls look going down the lane.Very nice videos, excellent quality and a few different people rolling them with different releases. One a other side note, you might want to take a page out of DV8's book on pricing.I have seen a flood of DV8 balls the last year and not one lord field ball.Pricing might be the difference. This is only in southern California tho.Today's economy doesn't help either.I'm sure lord field makes very good balls, maybe just the newness of the company or not having the funding Brunswick does.I do look forward to trying some of them in the future
You guys have a wonderful week and good luck in your bowling adventures

I just drilled mine this afternoon. I am not in any way of staffer. I have nothing invested in a review of it. I will let you know what I think after throwing it 10/15 games which should be like Wednesday.

I finally got a few games on the Bad News last night and I know you're looking for non-staffer reviews, but this will have to do since the ball isn't officially out yet. I'll try to keep it as objective as possible.

Standard THS with a decent amount of oil inside. Drilled up 35x4x25 and the one thing that stands out is how smooth this ball is. It does a great job of evening out the lane and should play great on flatter patterns. Over 2 and a half games I moved 3-1 right in total,  For comparison, I had to switch to my Off The Chain in the 3rd game due to an IT issue and had to move 6 and 2 right (lefty) to still hold the pocket. The BN was about 2 feet earlier but allowed me to play much straighter then the OTC.

I punched up my Bad News Tuesday, drilled it 40 x 5 x 20. I was looking for skid flip reaction with a very sharp turn on the backend and that's exactly what I got. I had the opportunity to throw on fresh oil right after drilling in practice and to be honest I hated it. It was simply going to long for some reason unless I slow rolled it. However I got the opportunity to throw it Wednesday in league and tonight in a sweeper and I was quite pleased with the reaction. I threw the ball quite well. I get a sharp, solid consistent reaction on the backend but more importantly in rolls through the pins. I only have about 5 or 6 games on it right now. I will submit a review after 20 or so games.

I would be happy to hear your feedback after you get a few games on it. Don't be afraid to lightly hit it by hand with a 4k pad to knock off a touch of polish. I have done this with a few of my oob polished balls and it brought the ball to life! Just ever so lightly is all you need.

I have done that also with a few balls, especially ones from track. Not sure of the application they use, but a little hit with a 4000abr pad does wonders on their stuff

I am a Lord Field Staff member. I have thrown the Bad News, and I can say that it is one of the most controlled balls I have ever rolled. I am a stroker. Not a lot of hand but plenty of roll. My pap is 5 1/2 over and 3/4 up. The Bad News is very clean through the heads on multiple lane patterns. I've only thrown mine on 2 different THS. One house is a wet dry house and the ball really flips off of the dry. You can really see the shape of the balls path. In the other house which is a modified house shot. You may have play a little more direct and up the boards til the shot opens up, or go to something a little stronger. I shot my latest 300 with the Bad News. It's was 3 years since I shot my last one. I say try one out. Bad News is good News. www.lfbowling.com, www.lordfield.com, www.lanemasters.com. CHANGING BOWLING, ONE BOWLER AT A TIME.

Great ball. Most of my layouts are benchmarks because I want to see the true reaction of the ball. The Bad News is very clean thru the head mild midlane move and quick of the break. I have shot 2 300s with mine this season. I had my ball nicked up in the ball return, so I got it resurfaced, not my first choice but it did change the reaction. So I took it to 800 polish from the 1000 polish that's out of box. Looking forward to see the difference. Hopefully better than before.
