Title: Exodus Iron, for real!!!
Post by: triggerman on November 20, 2012, 12:37:52 PM
gotta say first off I love the two peice construction, Ive had the Exodus Pearl and Solid in my bag since Day 1, but had passed on the Iron due to me and particle balls not getting along well.  the solid has been a mainstay for me, having already notched a 300 with it.  tag the pearl along with a 290 and its a pretty good pair.  Well the opportunity to get an Iron came up at a really great price and since I was having great sucess throwing the other particle balls from Lord Field (Nasty and Jacked) I opted to pick on up.  Drilled it 75x5.5x35 was looking for length with a hard move off the back, and its exactly what I got.  Ball ended up with pin over bridge roughly 1" with cg right in palm (15# 3 oz ball 3.65 pin and 3.10 top weight).  on a house shot I can virtually stand anywhere, but where this ball shines is letting me get in deep, a lot deeper then Ive been in sometime.  I can litterly throw as hard as I want with as much hand as I want, and its crushing in its roll to the pocket.  ball is super clean up front for a particle ball, but really has the motor on the backside, you can see it rev up and then flip and make a hard roll into the pocket, left it in OOB condition but could see having a second polished to be just a tick cleaner up front.  not just as a staffer, but LF is making some quality peices, they are a different look on the lane, maybe sometimes not as big of movers off the spot, but they hit a ton, and when y ou match up with one it is a special roll.  take to surface changes well and seem to have a very good life cycle, my exodus solid and pearl are well over 500 games each with no noticeable dimishment of performance, dont over look these guys,

bruce,

While the Iron is a particle, I'm inclined to think it's a light load, whose purpose is to handle slightly heavier oil than the resin Exodus and to hook more. It DOES hook MORE.

I'm not sure how well it will blend wet/drys; it will do it to a certain extent, of course. It's more like the New Standard than the Big Kahuna or the World Class.

Check with Shaggy too; he loves his enough to have bought 2 of them.

Thanks Jeff! I'm excited about the Lord Field line cause I loved Legends/Lane Masters bowling ball and the thought of having similar technology with an asymmetrical line as well! I believe the Lord Field line will be the ultimate line with the symmetrical, asymmetrical and the particle, reactive solids, reactive pearls and hybrids coverstocks!!

Tony Martin and LordField seem to be doing a lot right. I have to see his role with LF in the US as essential to their success.

i like the iron so well I have two as well, drilled the same, one polished one OOB , Charlest is correct it is a light load particle, the norm seems to be about 1 gram per ball with the LF stuff.  I am impressed at how easy the Iron gets length, when it starts to get early I go to the exodus solid and keep striking, a great set of 3 balls that cover most all conditions

PH is a polished pearl for medium-light to medium oil - good length, controlled but good backend. (There's a lot of surface under the stock polish, 1000 grit; so it can be modified for more length and more backend, to a certain extent. Core is on the rolly side.)
Iron is a dull (2000 grit), light load particle ball - for medium to medium-heavy oil, strong backend for average revs, average ball speed bowler.
Drilling and bowler's release style will, of course, affect the difference between them.
