Lord Field/Lane Masters ball selections...need help!
« on: August 07, 2014, 02:20:25 PM »
Thanks to Tony Martin, I've just been welcomed to LF/LM family!

I want to transition from what I'm currently using to the LF/LM line up but don't know what balls are in comparison to what I'm currently using (storm/roto grip).

So far from what I've been reading, I think I'm sold on the Judgement and the Talent.  The Black Pearl Blue Ocean looks interesting too.

Currently using: Defiant Soul (pin in rf), Asylum (pin under rf), Wrecker (pin over rf), Hy-road pearl (pin over rf)

Style: Stroker (on the fringe of a tweener)
Ball speed: 15-16 mph
Avg: 210-215 (typical house shot)

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

If you continue to do what you have always done, you will continue to get you have always gotten!

Talent is a great new piece, I throw mine all the time. The Judgement is considered by most to be our best benchmark ball... extremely versatile. Personally I'd say our top 3 balls right now are the Talent, Judgement, and Get Some... in varying order depending on the shot.

I used to go mostly storm for 5 or 6 yrs. After a year off, I decided I needed a fresh start and was trying to compare the stuff that I had to what LF/LM offered. But after some thought, I decided not to compare and really start from scratch...I went with these three balls..

Terra Power R LF
Black Pearl Blue Ocean LM
Crucial LF

I was very very impressed after throwing all three which fit nicely together. The other NIBS I have are not even drilled yet because these 3 are that damn good. Bowled on SPL, Anvil, and older synthetics with different THS patterns and I'm actually excited to return this fall. I got that gut feeling with these equipment offered by LF/LM....

I didn't mean anything by asking why, I'm just interested why your changing brands.
I have plenty of Lane Masters equipment and use them, I'm NOT bashing anyone on here.
Hope you enjoy whatever you decide to use.

I think the reason hes changing is maybe hes on LF staff now and just wants opinions on balls to transfer to. But honestly, being a former staff player with LF, there stuff doesnt roll like any of your storm stuff since their stuff is mostly, not all, particle. Means different roll patterns. I tried and tried and couldnt score because all the stuff rolls early. Good luck and Tony is a great guy to deal with.

Yes, Bowl_Freak is correct! I'm just joining as an A3 staff member looking to see if I will have the same kind of success or better. At this level I'm not limited to what products I can bowl with so I will still use my Storm/Roto grip stuff if that works better.

Thanks Bob for clearing that up for me  :).  I'm always willing to learn!

I'm with Bowl Freak how you might have a hard time finding stuff that really compares to what you're currently throwing. The roll is definitely different and the balls you listed outside of the Asylum are pretty angular whereas most of the LF/LM is on the smoother side

That was true for the older equipment. Some of the newer equipment has more reaction off the spot. The Talent and Bloody Cross turn quicker than any of the previous releases I have thrown. If you have not tried those two I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the reaction you get at the breakpoint.

I had hesitations about Lane Masters/Legends equipment thanks to what the above Gents also saw, mostly equipment that rolled at your toes due to the Diamond Particles used in Medium to Lighter Load balls, they were good Down and in balls but had trouble recovering from inside due to early burnout. The Old LM/L thinking is gone, the new Particle fused equipment is much more forgiving and does turn the corner, the Lord Field balls have the High quality manufacturing along with the slow absorption rate that used to be the trade mark of LM/L. I have the Bloody Cross drilled the same as any of my older USA made balls (Pin above bridge, Cg swung out 25 degrees) and the recovery is and energy retention for the pocket is impressive on a Medium THS, I also own the Black Pearl Blue Ocean drilled "Rico" that carries like a truck and after tossing it 80+ games, would not yield a single drop of oil when placed in a Revivor machine. I also purchased the Xtreme Damage Platinum & Get Some and as soon as the USBC approves it, the Buzz Legend Pearl. So you guys wonder why, it's simple, Lord Field/Lane Masters/Legends is producing High quality, slow oil absorbing, corner turning equipment!

I don't see the roll at your toes reaction that you are indicating with my Diamond Particle NS or YB. What balls did you have that gave this reaction?
