The lady in my life wants to get into bowling. She has supported me and wants to take her shot at bowling seriously. I was thinking of starting her off with the Crucial or a Power Strike. Any ideas or suggestions? I would love to stay within Lane Masters/Lord Field

The Bloody Cross is pretty. :-)

I love the Bloody Cross. I am just afraid it's too much ball for someone who has never thrown anything but house ball while drinking with friends. Plus the Crucial I still get the purple/pink element.

Don't buy a ball made for lots of oil, get her a ball she can toss down and in like a Burning Up Urethane.

Seriously though, it'll depend on her style. I'd suggest something middle of the road and go from there. For example, if you get a Crucial, but she struggles with rotation and doesn't hook the ball much, and she joins a league where they run heavy oil, she may get frustrated pretty quick. Vice versa with a hooking ball in a dry house if she hooks it.
I got a buddy that has bowled 3 times in the 15 years I've known him... but he has a TON of hand (if he had any interest in the game he'd be pretty good with a tweak here and there). I also see new folks that would struggle to get a 4th rev on the 100 ft lane and need all the help from a ball that they can get.
Back to the question, I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the choices without going more into her style. I'd suggest easing in pricewise and performance wise... perhaps a newer Power Strike, or the Judgement has long been a great benchmark ball of ours. Either way, keep us posted.

What weight ball you thinking of getting her?

If she is just getting into bowling I would say the power strike would even be too much ball possibly, but you could polish it up and drill it super weak just so she can get used to it. A burning up would be a possiblity too. Just depends on how intersted she is in the game and if she sticks with it.
