Last night during the roll off, I lost my temper. No, I didn't punch the monitor or kick a ball return because I was bowling badly. I yelled at my teammate's girlfriend. She was throwing ice cubes at us from a couple tables away. To clarify a little, she was throwing them under our table and where we walk. I picked up probably 12 ice cubes after I realized that she was the one doing it. And it wasn't that she doesn't know what water does to a slide shoe. She knew perfectly well. She is just a (insert choice profanity here.) Is it justified give your teammate's girlfriend a tongue lashing in front of him for something like that?

Opinions will differ widely; even you have 2nd thoughts because of this post.
But she could easily have caused someone to have a very serious injury.
I understand your feelings at the time; mine might not have been much different.
I guess it depends on exactly what you said to her and exactly what your relationship is to her and to him.
Was she drunk? or is she just always thoughtless?
-
sounds like you need more mature friends
IMO any time you lose your temper the troll wins
-
I think you handled it better than I would have. I would have insisted the management kick her a$$ out.
-
I believe you had every right to be irritated.
Why didn't HE tell/ask her to stop?
I would've given him the chance to do something about it first, but if that failed, I probably would have alienated a couple of people because I'm not very polite, or nice, when stupid people make me mad.
-
I was the first person to do anything because I was the first person to notice. I am also the person who reacts most strongly to stupidity like that. She doesn't care about anyone other than herself. When I asked her if she thought it would be funny if one of us fell and hurt ourselves, she said she would bust out laughing. Honestly, my friend is only with her because he has grown attached to her kids. We all have told him that he needs to get rid of her. I asked your opinions because when I get mad, I can't always tell if I am in the right.

Why didn't HE tell/ask her to stop?
That is the main question, although you said that your teammate did not notice what she was doing. I also agree with Milo; you were more restrained than I would have been. You did the right thing and owe no apologies. The stupidity of some people is really hard to believe.

Yes, I would support u too! I'd tell her to leave...or I'm going to dump a bucket of ice water "in her general direction". Total B.S.
I lost my cool 6 times during our 8 team end of year tournament for the league title. The employees basically stopped doing their jobs at the center cause instead of the full 32 lane house we just had us 8 teams. The pin chaser and mechanic.. B.S.-ing outside in the parking lot. We had 10+ minute waits for calls. The manager, if u can call him that this week, had no clue and didn't care. Being outside also meant their grace door was open in the back..making the curtain left of lane 1 blow over onto lane 1. Not like its the most important night of bowling in the entire freaking house or anything ;)
Oh yeah I lost it. Many people said they never saw me get "mad" before. Haha, my gf was trying to hug me to calm me down, I was like if the manager isn't going to yell at his employees to get to work, I will 8)

Based on this response from her, I'd say you were 110% justified.

I have to agree with all above post, and firmly agree with Milo, she should have been walked out. I thought it was bad when I was being hounded with unsolicited advice. You did the right thing! The one thing I want to know is how your teammate reacted to what you said? We he on your side, her side, trying to stay neutral? Just curious.
-
She is lucky that did'nt happen to me!
-
I honesty think my teammate either didn't notice or didn't care. He never said anything to me about it. He was probably too drunk to notice.

I suspect you might consider another team, or another league, or another center next year.

Oh I like this teammate a lot. It is his girlfriend no one likes lol. He said he is quitting this league next year anyway due to money issues. I would love for him to stay

Someone too inebriated to notice ice on the floor in the bowlers area or.....simply doesn't care, does sound like an awesome teammate......
-
He usually isn't drunk. Besides, I pick my teammates for the fun factor, and he is a lot of fun
-
an adult acting like a child...male or female, doing things that has the potential to hurt someone for the fun of it should be 86'd.
-
I would have flipped my lid. Keep your significant other in check and deal with their stuff.
-
Would have told my team mate to remove the stupid inconsiderate bitch himself and if he didn't I would take his score less 10 for the rest of the night and he could watch the action from the main aisle. Ridiculous.
-
That's dangerous for bowlers. Im 33 and have no desire to suffer serious injury because of some dumb chick. Im fortunate to bowl at a center where she would have been kicked out immediately.
-
She should have been kicked out. The manager decided I handled it sufficiently though. And apparently I got my point across because she was silent the rest of the night, and left as soon as we were done bowling.

[Typical Ballreviews Troll Response] You were not justified in losing your temper. I can't believe that you would lose your temper over such a trivial thing. Stay down in the settee area and leave the spectators alone. Maybe you should buy some shoe covers or learn to walk on the sides of your feet. Don't you know that someone throwing ice cubes on the floor is considered "good luck" in other cultures. [/Typical Ballreviews Troll Response]
Okay seriously, as others stated, this is a very serious. If I was there, I would be yelling at her right along with you, especially, that she knows that it could hurt someone.

This is actually really high-level sarcasm. Funny! Well played. ;D ;D :) :) :P :P

lmfao trash heap! That actually did make me laugh! Really though, I'm glad nobody thinks I overreacted. On a side note, what do you guys do if you step in water? I rub the bottom of my slide sole with my rosin bag and that seems to pull the moisture out of the sole as well as anything I have found

Rosin Bag?? Seems like that would make the problem worse.
I use SST 6's, so I just change to a different sole. Water is a tough one, but not as bad as Orange Soda(long story) lol
-
I think that is what it is. It is a puff ball that I use to dry my hand off. Everyone says it should make my hand tackier, but getting rid of the moisture makes my hand not stick lol. And I pat down my sole with my hand to get rid of the powder before I bowl to keep myself from sliding over the foul line and so I don't get it on the approach.

Yes actual Rosin Bags and Dry Bags are two totally different things and these two bags are not interchangeable!
1-Is the Dry/puffball Type bag, those are the big ones you see bowler's using most of the time to dry a sweaty hand or patting on the finger holes. These are a cloth bag and mostly contain a clay like adsorbent silica material (like cat litter) that makes a fine dust that drys your hand out.
2-Is the Grip type which is more of a true "rosin bag", they are meant to give you more grip. They have a white sticky powder substance in them ( I believe a plant extract or similar type material) that gives you a surer grip on the ball.
If you rubbed the grip type on your shoe you'd stick big time.
-
1 is the one I use. I have sweaty hands big time

These days, like most people, I would just change soles.
Previously, I first blot all that I can of the water with paper towels or a cloth. Then I'd use baby powder, which is normally talcum powder, whose main purpose is to absorb water. You have to be careful but this is an emergency. I slide a lot, so I need a sole as perfect as it can be.
-
baby powder and a super hard scrub with the brush and its back to normal or better!!
-
Nope…you are justified. As long as it was just verbal…perfectly acceptable.
She could have caused someone serious injury with water on the slide sole. Especially for any older bowlers who if they land on their face or hip could have medical bills.
Don't feel bad…you're justified.
